A Ten Minute Chop

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

The action started with Andy Seth opening to 6,500 from under the gun, and was called by Eric Rodawig in late position, as well as Bryce Yockey in the blinds.

The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} as Yockey and Seth checked. Rodawig threw out a bet of 15,000, and was just called by Seth, as the turn brought the {9-Clubs}. Both players checked as the {7-Diamonds} completed the board. Seth reached for chips, and bet out 27,000, before Rodawig quickly announced "pot!".

“How much is it?” asked Seth, as the dealer started adding it all up.

Random amounts were yelled out before the dealer’s final number came at 133,500.

“I guess were all good at Math” joked Bronshtein, as Seth continued to tank over his decision.

Almost 10 minutes had passed, as some players at the table started to get inpatient.

“I understand if you want to call time on me.” “I’m just in a tough numbers spot,” said Seth.

“I was going to call time at 10 minutes,” replied Rodawig, as he sat there patiently.

“Ok, Clock!” said David Levi, sitting at the table. “If you don’t mind, then I’m calling it.”

The tournament director was called over and asked if Seth had taken a few minutes already to decide.

An eruption of laughter then made its way around the table before Mike Matusow spoke up saying, “We’ve been very nice, he’s had 10 minutes.”

With the countdown nearing its end, Seth finally made the call and tabled {A-Spades}{7-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} which was good to take half the pot with a low, as Rodawig showed his {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for a flush and the high.

Johnson Catches River to Survive

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Gabriel Blumenthal raised it up to 7,500, and Allan Le bet pot from the small blind to 25,500. Marco Johnson moved all in for 34,500 total, and Blumenthal and Le both called. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}, and Le checked to Blumenthal, who quickly moved all in, having Le covered. Le tanked for about 90 seconds before reluctantly folding.

Blumenthal: {6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{a-Hearts}
Johnson: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

Blumenthal had flopped the nut low, and at the moment, Johnson's lowly pair of deuces were in the lead for the high. The turn brought plenty of action, coming the {j-Spades}. All of a sudden, Johnson was behind for the whole pot, and needed to catch a spade or two pair on the river to survive. He was able to do so, as the river was the {q-Spades}, and Johnson let out a big sigh of relief.

Rodawig Busts Gerasimov

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
Eric Rodawig
Eric Rodawig

As soon as we finished up with the aforementioned Marco Johnson hand, we saw that Eric Rodawig was taking down a substantial pot, busting Kirill Gerasimov in the process. We caught the end of the action on the turn, where Gerasimov bet all but 500 of his chips due to the limitations from the size of the pot. The board read {9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}, and Rodawig made the call. Gerasimov tossed the last 500 in when the {j-Spades} hit the river, and to the surprise of many at his table, was only able to show {3-Hearts}{a-Spades}{8-}{k-Clubs} for two pair.

Rodawig had {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a straight, and he scored the huge knockout, upping his stack to a chip leading 253,000.

Isra Running the Show

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Roland Isra opened the pot by throwing out 15,000 in chips.

“Pot is 14,000,” said the dealer, letting Isra know the right amount.

“I don’t care what the pot bet is.” “I want to bet 15,000. My chips, my bet,” he added.

Before anything came out of it, the player in the small blind called all in for less, and the two players tabled their cards.

Isra: {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Opponent: {5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {4-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} to see Isra eliminate a player as he moves up to 45,000 in chips.

Bustouts Keep Coming

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

We knew the eliminations would come fast and furious today, but we weren't quite expecting them to still be this fast this late in the tournament. We are already down to our final four tables, and we recently lost bracelet winners Mike Matusow and Owais Ahmed.

Greenstein Climbing

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

The table folded to Barry Greenstein in the small blind, who opened to 10,000. Matt Giannetti made the call from the big blind, as both saw the flop come down {J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{A-Spades}. A continuation bet of 15,000 was called by Giannetti as both checked the {10-Hearts} on the turn. With the river producing the {4-Clubs}, Greenstein quickly slid out 50,000, as Giannetti went into the tank. A minute passed, before he finally released his hand.

Giannetti Bounced Just Before Dinner

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Matt Giannetti made it 9,000 from early position, and action folded to Dave Brooker in the big blind. He announced pot, a bet of 39,000, and after about a minute of thought, Giannetti called, leaving himself just 26,000 behind. Both players checked the flop of {3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, and when the turn brought the {8-Spades}, Brooker announced pot. Giannetti rechecked his hole cards, then dropped chips in for the call.

Giannetti: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Brooker: {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Brooker had the nut low, and also had him beat for the high with ace-queen. However, Giannetti could pair up his hand, catch a nine or five for a straight, or a spade for the flush. Unfortunately for Giannetti, the {7-Clubs} on the river was a complete brick, and he was eliminated just minutes before dinner.
