Paez Crippled

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

In the last hand before break, Raul Paez was contemplating a bet from Joseph Hertzog on sixth street:

Paez: {4-Spades}{q-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Hertzog: {2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Paez made the call after a minute or so of thought, and the dealer tossed out seventh street. Hertzog fired again, and Paez made the call. Hertzog showed {3-}{5-}{k-} for a wheel. Paez cursed, slapping down {k-}{4-}{6-} for kings up.

Paez is down to just over a big bet now.

Break

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The players are now on a 20-minute break. There is a pot in process, and we will bring you the details shortly.

Johnson Takes a Hit

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Tony Gill: {x-}{x-} / {4-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades} / {x-}
Linda Johnson: {x-}{x-} / {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{q-Clubs} / {x-}

Gill check-called a bet on fourth street, then led out on fifth, sixth, and seventh. Johnson called all three bets, then mucked when Gill tabled {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for aces and an eighty-four low.

Big Scoop for Hertzog

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Joseph Hertzog: {x-}{x-} / {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} / {x-}
Raul Paez: {x-}{x-} / {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{a-Spades} / {x-}
Mike Leah: {x-}{x-} / {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts}{k-Spades} / {x-}

Hertzog checked on fourth with his pair of eights, Paez bet, and both Leah and Hertzog called. Hertzog opted to lead on fifth, Paez and Leah both called, and Paez led out on sixth when he made a pair of aces. Both Leah and Hertzog called.

On seventh, Paez led out again and only Hertzog called. Paez showed {10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} for aces-up, but he was scooped by Hertzog, who showed {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} for a straight.

Phan Doubles

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Daniel Idema bet into Young Phan with a pair on fourth street, and Phan called with two babies. Idema bet again after catching a brick on fifth, but Phan caught a ten, so he decided to roll with the hand.

"Let's go all in," he said. Idema obliged him.

Phan: {6-Clubs}{8-Spades}/{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Idema: {j-Spades}{2-Diamonds}/{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}

Idema's tens led, but Phan had four to a low and a gutshot draw. Phan seemed disgusted after picking up the {9-Clubs} on sixth, and Idema caught a brick as well. Phan squeezed out a {7-Spades} on the end, giving him a straight and a low, and he scooped the pot.

Stephen Sperling - 11th Place.
Stephen Sperling - 11th Place.

We caught Stephen Sperling and Fei Chu in the middle of a heads-up pot on fifth street, and Sperling fired both fifth and sixth.

Sperling: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Chu: {7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

Sperling put his last 8,000 in on the end, and Chu called.

"I got crap," Sperling said, tabling {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-} for a pair of fours. Chu showed {9-}{5-}{6-} for sixes up to take the pot and send Sperling out.

Raul Paez: {x-}{x-} / {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs} / {x-}
Mike Leah: {x-}{x-} / {2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} (FOLD)
Randy Sim: {x-}{x-} / {k-Spades}{2-Spades}{a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} / {x-}

Sim completed, Paez raised, and Leah, who brought it in, called. Sim called as well, and Paez led out on fourth street. Both players called, and Paez led again on fifth. Leah folded, Sim moved all in, and Paez called.

Paez: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Sim: {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Only a nine would save Sim, and hge flipped over a brick (the {6-Clubs}) on seventh, hitting the rail in 12th place.
