Smith Survives

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Dan Smith just doubled to survive versus Alex Manzano. All of the chips went in on a {j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop, with Smith holding top set with {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} versus Manzano's flush draw with {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. The turn was the {A-Clubs} and river the {2-Diamonds}, and Smith is back up over 110,000.

Meanwhile, Manzano is still in good shape following that hit as he currently occupies a spot near the top of the counts with 39 left.

Goldman Gets Brown

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Chad Brown
Chad Brown

Chad Brown entered the day second in chips of the final 117, but as he held even with his chip stack the field gradually caught up and passed him. By the time the dinner break arrive, Brown found himself having slipped back to below average status.

Soon after they returned he went with {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}, risking his stack versus Lee Goldman's {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Brown's hand was still good through the {6-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop and {10-Spades} turn, but the {Q-Diamonds} fell on fifth street to give Goldman trip queens and Brown headed to the cashier with his 39th-place ticket.

Smith Joins Parade to Rail

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

There were just three bustouts occurring almost simultaneously.

The first was Dan Smith going out in 38th place at the hands of Sorel Mizzi. After a Mizzi open to 6,000 from the button, Smith reraised to 18,500 from the big blind, Mizzi reraised the pot, and Smith called all in.

Smith had {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and needed to improve versus Mizzi's {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. But the board came {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{J-Hearts}, meaning Smith turned two pair but was counterfeited on the river to be eliminated.

Just as Smith was being knocked out, Tony Cousineau went out in 37th followed shortly thereafter by Juha Helppi in 36th.
