Badmayev Stays Alive

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

A player in early position limped in, and a player in late position raised to 8,000. Oleg Badmayev, in the small blind, pushed all in for nearly 30,000. The limper counted out his chips before coming back over the top all in. The original raiser released his hand.

Badmayev: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The flop came down {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, and the turn was a {7-Clubs}. Badmayev could now chop the pot if a five or ten hit the board. He did better than that though, as a {q-Clubs} fell on the river, leaving him with the best hand and a double up. The original raiser said he folded {10-}{10-}.
