Jake Balsiger just arrived here in the gold section of the Brasilia Room and he's already making his presence felt on the felt.
After a limp under the gun and a limp from the cutoff, Balsiger raised to 275 from the button. Both blinds folded quickly, while the player under the gun thought for a good minute before letting his hand go. The player in the cutoff thought for a bit too before also releasing her hand.
Balsiger is down a few hundred from starting stack already, but we can expect to see him stir up some action here on day one.
The players have all returned from their breaks. But before play starts up again, there is a bracelet ceremony for Simeon Naydenov, who won Event #36: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout.
While one PokerNews.com blogger, Frank De op Woerd is running deep in Event #40: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em, another of our PokerNews.com bloggers is playing in our Event #42: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em.
Jesse Capps is sitting just a bit above starting stack right now as he hopes to make it deep here on day one, just as De op Woerd did yesterday. We'll keep tabs on Capps' progress as we make our way through the day.
We passed by Randy "Nanonoko" Lew's table just after break ended and noticed that he was no long seated there, nor did he have any chips in his spot. Here's what he had to say about the ordeal via Twitter:
Aaron Massey opened to 225 from middle position, and found 3 callers, as the four saw the flop come down . Massey threw out a continuation bet of 525, which received one call, as the two watched the come on the turn. Almost instantly, Massey opted to move all in for his last 2,150, which sent his opponent into the tank. Over a minute passed, before the hand was mucked, resulting in Massey taking down the pot.
After a raise of 250 and a call on a board of Paul Wasicka had a reraise of 1,000 in front of him. The action went back to the original bettor and he reraised all in. The caller folded and Wasicka made the call for more than half his stack.
Wasicka:
Player:
The board completed with a and a and Wasicka was forced to send over his chips to the other player. After the hand Wasicka was left with 875 chips and soon after he had none as he was eliminated.
Our PokerNews.com blogger Jesse Caps is out of the tournament here on day one. Here's what he told us happened:
A player opened under the gun with a raise to 250. Action folded around to Capps in the big blind who made it 650, which the under-the-gun player called.
The board came down rainbow and Capps led out with a bet of 850 and his opponent quickly put him all in. Capps made the call with . His opponent turned over for a flopped two pair. The board bricked out for Capps and that was all she wrote for our blogger here in this tournament.
