Chiu Stacking Up

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

We arrived at Table 442 just in time to see the dealer sweeping up the cards of two all in players. One of them held {5-}{5-}, and we didn't catch the other hand, but neither could beat David Chiu's {9-}{9-}.

Germanos Busts Petros

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Mike Germanos and Zennawi Petros got all but Petros' last T1,000 chip in before the flop.

Germanos tossed a yellow chip out after the {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop, and Petros called after Germanos gave him a good-natured, "You're pot-committed."

Petros: {8-}{8-}
Germanos: {9-}{9-}

The nines held up for Germanos, who says it's his first time in Las Vegas and his first poker tournament.

Pusztai Doubles With a Straight

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Balint Pusztai shoved his last 29,500 from the button after action folded to him. Sergey Tikhonov called from the big blind.

Tikhonov: {5-}{5-}
Pusztai: {7-Spades}{4-Clubs}

A flop of {6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} meant Pusztai would make a straight if Tikhonov found a third five. Sure enough, the turn was the {5-Spades}, and Pusztai just needed to fade the board pairing. A {q-Spades} was fine by him, and he doubled up with the rags.

DeMaci Busts Bunal

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Chris DeMaci raised to 6,000 from early position, and then Florencio Bunal three-bet all in. DeMaci called instantly and turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Bunal held {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}, and he would need help. The board did not provide it, coming {8-Clubs}{2-}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, bustin Bunal from the tournament and bringing DeMaci up to to 170,000 in chips.
