Bubble Hands Before the Break

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Several hands just occurred during the break, to leave us needing one more elimination once everyone returns.

The first hand saw the action folded around to Barry Shulman on the button, who opened to 8,000. His opponent in the small blind then bumped it up to 20,500, which was called. The flop came down {q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}, as the player in the small blind threw out a continuation bet of 13,000. Shulman quickly reached for chips, and raised it up to 33,000, which was enough to take down the pot.

In the next hand, and with the flop showing {4-Spades}{9-Spades}{j-Clubs}, Jonathan Cohen checked from under the gun, as JC Tran bet out 11,700. He was called, as the {4-Clubs} fell on turn. Another check call of 16,600 was witnessed, before the {7-Hearts} completed the board. Cohen checked once more, as Tran reached for his chips, before betting out 44,300. After thinking for almost a minute, Cohen made the call, before Tran tabled his {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a full house.

“Thought I was chopping,” said Cohen, as he rolled over his {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

The following hand, Jason Wheeler was positioned under the gun plus one, and tanked over his decision for several minutes, continuously looking around the room, before finally opting to raise it up to 6,500. The action folded around to Eric Baldwin in the small blind, who paused for a moment, before announcing all in, which had Wheeler covered. He looked around the room a few more times, before letting his hand go.

In the final hand before the break, Jeff Papola committed the last of his chips in holding {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and was called by Matt Berkey who had {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. The board ran out {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, to see Papola survive, as the players went on break.
