King Elezra

Level 1 : 75/150, 0 ante

Tom Schneider raised from middle position and got three callers including Eli Elezra on the button and both of the players in the blinds. All four drew two cards initially, and when it checked around Elezra bet and all three of the others called. On the second draw the small blind and Schneider each took two, and the big blind and Elezra one. Once more it checked around to Elezra who bet, but only Schneider stuck around this time.

The third draw saw Schneider taking one card and Elezra standing pat. Schneider checked, Elezra bet, and after pausing just a moment Schneider let his hand go.

As the chips were being swept his way, Elezra showed four of his cards — {7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} — holding the fifth face down. At that Fabrice Soulier piped up from across the table.

"King of hearts," said Soulier, and Elezra quickly flipped over the card — the {K-Diamonds}!

"So close!" grinned Elezra.

Smith Keeping Himself Entertained

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The late registration tables are slowly filling up, and they are going a bit too slow for Gavin Smith's liking. He is currently sitting at his table (where he is the only one who has showed up so far), shuffling his chips and talking with anyone at a nearby table who will listen to him. His attitude is light-hearted at the moment, as he is playing around with the floor, telling a nearby player "He (the floor) tells me there's four seats sold but I don't believe him." For now, Smith will have to wait patiently for his table to fill up.

A Head Start for Hedlund

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Peter Hedlund raised from the button and got one caller in Ivan Demidov playing from the small blind. Hedlund then tossed out three cards, realizing too late he'd done so before Demidov could act. Demidov drew two, and Hedlund patted the felt saying he didn't mean to draw before Demidov did.

Demidov then checked, Hedlund bet, and Demidov called. Demidov took two on the next round and Hedlund stood pat, and again Demidov check-called a bet from his opponent.

Demidov took one card on the third draw while Hedlund again stood pat. Demidov bet this time, and Hedlund just called.

Demidov tabled {8-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}, then Hedlund showed {8-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}. It took just a moment, but Hedlund saw he'd nipped Demidov's hand and the chips were pushed his way.

Ohel and Mosseri Down Early

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We walked up to the table to see defending champion Randy Ohel and Abe Mosseri in a three handed pot with another player, and we caught the tail end of a small bit of controversy. We know little details, other then there was a debate over whether their opponent had put out a raise or a call. Regardless, we saw all three players draw one card on the second draw. Mosseri was the bettor, and both players called. On the final draw, Ohel was the only one to take a card, as the other two stood pat. Both Ohel and Mosseri checked to their opponent, then quickly folded after he bet out.

After the hand, Ohel and Mosseri had a calm but still somewhat heated discussion over the fact that Ohel announced the misbet earlier, but after about 30 seconds of talking, the debate ended rationally.

Kihara Collects

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Naoya Kihara
Naoya Kihara

A player sitting under the gun raised and only Naoya Kihara called from a seat over. The raiser took one card and Kihara two, and when the continuation bet came Kihara responded with a raise and his opponent just called.

Both players stood pat on the subsequent two draws. Kihara's opponent checked-called a bet on the second, then bet out on the third and Kihara called.

Kihara showed an 8 perfect — {8-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} — and his opponent disappointedly showed his {8-}{7-}{x-}{x-}{x-} as he mucked.

Greenstein Loses a Few

Barry Greenstein

It folded around to the small blind who raised and Barry Greenstein tossed out a chip to call from the big blind. The raiser drew two on the first round and Greenstein three, and after a bet from his opponent Greenstein called.

Both drew one card on each of the next two draws. The small blind check-called a bet from Greenstein after the second draw, then both checked on the end.

Greenstein showed a {Q-}, and his opponent quickly fanned a {J-}{5-}{3-}{2-}{x-} and took the pot.

Yockey Breaks the Best Hand

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We walked up to the table to see Greg Raymer, Ben Tollerene, and Bryce Yockey in a three way pot after the second draw. Raymer checked to Tollerene, who bet out. Yockey tossed out a raise, then Raymer surprised both with a check three bet. Tollerene tanked for about 30 seconds before folding, and Yockey tossed in the call. Raymer stood pat, and Yockey looked at his cards, said "here we go," and drew one. Raymer quickly checked, and Yockey did the same when he saw his new card.

Raymer tabled {9-}{8-}{6-}{5-}{2-}, and Yockey immediately had a frustrated look on his face, rechecked his hole cards, then flung them to the muck. Three of them went air born, with two going off the table, and one hitting the dealer. Yockey immediately apologized several times, and the entire table, including the dealer, got a bit of a laugh out of it. They then talked about photoshopping a picture of the dealer with a card sticking out of her shoulder, which got the table laughing some more. As we were leaving, Yockey revealed that he had broken the best hand on the final draw, which is why he was so frustrated.
