Danzer Dunzo

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

There was about 50,000 already in the middle and the board read {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs} when George Danzer committed his last 26,000 from the big blind, then Jared Bleznick called immediately from a couple of seats over.

Danzer had {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{J-Spades}, but was behind Bleznick's two pair as the latter held {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. THe turn was the {5-Clubs} and river the {9-Diamonds}, and Danzer has been eliminated.

Kings Good Enough for Vedhara

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Rickie Vedhara raised to 8,000 from under the gun, Jonathan Duhamel called in late position, and Daniel Fuhs defended his big blind. The flop fell {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, Fuhs checked, Vedhara checked, and Duhamel tossed out 17,000. Only Vedhara called.

Both players knuckled as the turn and river came {5-Diamonds}, {7-Clubs} respectively, and Vedhara took the pot with {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a pair of kings.

Wiese on the Rise

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Jamie Pickering and James Wiese just got involved in a big hand that saw them putting their close-to-even stacks in the middle following a {4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{J-Clubs} flop. That's when Pickering led for 30,000, Wiese raised all in for around 120,000, and after some thought Pickering called.

Pickering tabled {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for top pair, an open-ended straight draw, and a backdoor flush draw, while Wiese had {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} for a wrap draw to a straight and a backdoor flush draw of his own. As it turned out, that latter backdoor flush draw of Wiese's proved meaningful as the turn was the {8-Clubs} and river the {6-Clubs}, giving Wiese a huge double and crippling Pickering to less than 20,000.

Shortly after that hand, Wiese eliminated a short-stacked Peter Charalambous to add still more chips to his stack.

Ashby No Cash Be

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Matt Giannetti raised to 12,000 from late position, then David Ashby reraised all in for 30,500 from the button. It folded back to Giannetti who called, turning over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} to Ashby's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{2-Clubs}.

Flop came {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, that case queen giving Giannetti a set. Ashby could still outdraw Giannetti, but the {K-Clubs} on the turn filled the latter up, making the river {6-Diamonds} no matter and sending Ashby railward just a few spots shy of the cash.

Stout Out, Alaei on the Ascent

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

A couple more bustouts to report, bringing them ever closer to the cash — Roman Yitzhaki and Matt Stout.

Following Yitzhaki's elimination on a neighboring table, a big hand developed between Stout and Daniel Alaei that saw the pair already having built a pot of about 30,000 when the {7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} flop hit. Alaei led for 23,000 and Stout called. The turn was the {J-Diamonds}, at the sight of which Alaei bet 70,000. Stout then raised the pot, Alaei pushed all in, and Stout called with the 250,000 or so he had left.

Stout had {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for two different flush draws while Alaei held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for top two pair. The river was the {5-Spades}, and Stout hit the rail as Alaei catapulted up around the top of the counts.

Hand-for-Hand Begins

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

With just 46 players left, the six remaining tables are currently playing hand-for-hand until the next elimination occurs and the money bubble bursts.

Pickering Needs Help

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Jamie Pickering is undoubtedly the shortest player in the room with just 23,000 chips. On one of the first hands of hand-for-hand play, he called a raise and then folded on the flop. With just over four big blinds, Pickering will need to find a double soon or hope that two bigger stacks clash.
