Nacho Can't Believe It

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

With around 3,300 in the pot and a flop of {3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{a-Spades}, the player in the small blind checked to Argentinean Jose "Nacho" Barbero in the cutoff. Barbero proceeded to bet 1,300 and was immediately met by a check-raise to 3,200. Barbero then grabbed his entire stack and moved all in for 7,375.

Barbero seemed as if he expected to be snap-called, but the small blind wasn't so fast. He asked for a count and even though it wasn't that much more, he opted to preserve the 16,000 or so he had behind. Barbero's expression suggested that he couldn't believe his opponent folded to so little a three-bet.

Full House for Negreanu

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Daniel Negreanu limped the small blind and the big blind bumped it up to 1,500. Negreanu called, and on a {A-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop, he check-called a bet of 1,500.

Both players checked the {3-Spades} on the turn as the {3-Hearts} completed the board on the river.

Negreanu held a 5,000-denomination chip in the air, and just before he dropped it, he announced a bet of 3,500.

The big blind mucked and Negreanu stated, "I had a good hand!" while tabling his {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} to move to just under 20,000 in chips.

Level 4 is in the books, and even though it only took two hours, a lot happened in that period of time. For one, the World Series of Poker officials announced that this tournament, Event #62: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event, has officially attracted 6,352 players and created a prize pool of $59,708,800. The exact payout structure has yet to be determined, but the eventual winner will be taking home $8,359,531.

In addition to that, players were treated the extremely rare (any math wizards out there?) treat of a royal flush being out on the board; Tom "durrrr" Dwan entered the tournament without actually showing up (he's being blinded off); and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi continued to chip up.

It was also in Level 4 that Daniel Negreanu took a big hit to his stack, Ryan Laplante and Aaron Massey hit the rail, and FC Barcelona and Spain superstar Gerard Piqué was spotted in the field.

As you can see, it was a very active level and there's still one more to be played here on Day 1c. The action will resume in 20 minutes, so join us then to see who can make it through to Day 2c.

South Takes Some From MacPhee

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Kevin MacPhee and Cole South are two of the most respected poker players of their generation and the fact South is seated a couple of seats to the left of MacPhee could make for some interesting confrontations.

We caught the end of a clash between the two Goliath's where the board read {5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts} and South had bet 3,500 from the big blind. MacPhee made the call in the cutoff, but then mucked when South showed {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of tens.
