Lehmanski Tries the Triple-Barrel Bluff; Fails

Max Lehmanski (Day 1a)
Max Lehmanski (Day 1a)

Max Lehmanski led out for 4,400 on a flop of {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}, and his opponent, Darrell Ticehurst, called.

The turn was the {2-Clubs}, Lehmanski fired out a second bullet worth 10,600, and Ticehurst again called.

The {7-Spades} completed the board, and Lehmanski emptied the chamber, firing a third and final bullet worth 36,700. Ticehurst tanked for longer than he had on the two prior streets combined before pulling out chips from his stack. He then counted how much he would have left if he called and was wrong - around 75,000 - and pushed the small stack forward.

Lehmanski rapped the table, signaling that Ticehurst was good, but Ticehurst wouldn't table his hand unless the German either showed his or mucked. Lehmanski flashed his hand for a second or two - it looked like {7-Hearts}{6-Spades} - and Ticehurst turned over {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a pair of aces.

He raked in the pot and now sits with 178,600 chips, while Lehmanski fell to 53,000.

Hille Rebounding

Eliisabeth Hille on Day 1A
Eliisabeth Hille on Day 1A

After slipping a bit in the counts, Elisabeth Hille recently regained some of her losses.

Hille raised to 1,100 from the button, and Matthew Schreiber called from the big blind. The flop fell {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, and Hille continued to 1,400. Schreiber called, and the dealer turned the {7-Spades}. Schreiber checked again, and Hille bet 2,500. Schreiber called, and the {k-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Hille bet again, this time for 5,000. Schreiber tanked for about a minute, then tossed one orange 5,000-denomination chip into the pot for a call. Hille turned over {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a flopped two pair, and Schreiber mucked.

The hand brought Hille's stack back up to 50,000, while Schreiber slipped to 39,000.

Baker Takes a Hit

The player under the gun moved all in for his last 17,875, and action folded all the way around to Amanda Baker in the big blind. As soon as she took a peak down at her cards, she made the call.

Baker: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Baker was in great shape to add onto what has already been a good day for her, but that all changed when the flop came down {9-Clubs}{q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, giving her opponent a full house. Baker was now the one who was looking to come from behind, but the {6-Clubs} on the turn left her drawing pretty slim. The {2-Diamonds} came on the river, and Baker took the hit, knocking her down to 50,700.

Masek Getting Low

Alex Masek, in the big blind, checked the river with the board reading {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Colin Moffatt, on the button, bet 14,000, and Masek began tanking. Finally, he made the call for about half of his stack. Moffatt showed {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a turned full house, and someone at the table uttered an "oh my God." Masek mucked his hand.

Kristen Bicknell (from Day 1a)

Following a {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, Event #51: Ladies No-Limit Hold'em champion Kristen Bicknell found herself trading bets with a short-stacked player until the latter was all in and showing {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs} to Bicknell's {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and river the {10-Hearts}, and Bicknell collected the chips as the Amazon Room lost yet another player from the Day 2a half of the tourney.

Bet It And It Will Come

Mike Matusow (From Day 1A)
Mike Matusow (From Day 1A)

Not long before we witnessed this hand, Mike Matusow mentioned to us that he was having a hard time waking up. Maybe this hand is just what he needed.

Matusow raised from under the gun to 1,600. Action folded to the player in the big blind who reraised to 3,600. Matusow answered with four-bet to 6,000 and his opponent called.

The big blind checked the flop after it came {2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Matusow continued for 5,000 and the big blind insta-called. The player then check-called Matusow's bet of 5,000 on the {8-Spades} turn.

The player again checked to Matusow on the {3-Hearts} river who bet 13,000. His opponent cut out the chips to call and was ready to put the chips in but stopped himself. He started shuffling chips and talking the through the hand. He eventually made the call and Matusow said, "I got lucky" as he table {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a set on the turn. His opponent showed {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and just shook his head.

Yap Takes a Big Hit

There was already 9,500 in the pot when we arrived to see the dealer fan out a flop of {6-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Junwen Yap was heads up, and his opponent checked to Yap, who fired out 4,800. His opponent moved all in for 33,700, and Yap made the call.

Yap: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Opponent: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Yap's pocket aces had been bested by his opponent's flopped set, and Yap was hoping for a two outer of his own to reclaim the pot. It would never come though, as the board completed {8-Spades} and {4-Hearts}.

Yap, who started the day with over 110,000, has had a rough day so far, as he has tumbled down to just 41,800.

The flop landed {Q-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Hille checked over to Almashal who tossed in 2,600. Hille instantly mucked and Almashal captured the pot to move to 168,000 as Hille slipped below 38,000.

Friedman and Romano Climbing

Ray Romano
Ray Romano

We didn't see where he got all the chips, but Adam Friedman now has a lot of them. We asked Friedman if there was a certain hand where he picked up a lot of chips and he relayed to us a hand where after a raise and a call he flatted with {Q-}{Q-} from the big blind. The flop came down {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Spades} and Friedman check-called a bet to see the {8-} pair the board on the turn. After checking around again the river came an off suit {K-} and Friedman said he fired 15,000 into a pot of about 9,000. He got a call and picked up the relatively large pot for this stage of Day 2. Currently, Friedman is close to breaching the 200,000 mark, but he'll have to pick up a few more pots before he does.

A couple of tables over, we caught Ray Romano involved in a very small hand. After a raise from the small blind, Romano called from the big. The flop came down {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and the player in the small blind checked. Romano bet 1,500 and after just a few seconds his opponent folded. Romano showed a {9-Diamonds} for top pair as he scooped the pot. With that, Romano was able to push himself very close to 90,000 chips which is a good spot to be here on Day 2.
