Cody Continues Quest for Chips

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jake Cody
Jake Cody

Yesterday Jake Cody wore a burgundy sweat jacket with a picture of Muhammad Ali emblazoned on the front. Today he's sporting a bright blue Superman baseball cap turned backward, determined perhaps to continue a heroic journey through the large Main Event field.

Just now Cody continued his quest in a hand versus Vimy Ha that saw the pair reach a {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop with Ha playing out of the small blind and Cody from middle position. Ha checked, Cody bet 4,000, and Ha called. The turn brought the {5-Hearts}, and once more Ha check-called Cody's bet, this time for 10,000.

The river brought the {6-Spades}, and Ha checked once again. Cody fired 15,000 this time, in response to which Ha leaned forward and asked Cody to move his hands so he could see how much Cody had left — about 125,000.

After another half-minute more, Ha called Cody's bet, and when the latter tabled {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, Ha let his hand go.

Top-Top for Luske

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Marcel Luske raised to 4,200 from the button, and the only caller was the big blind. Luske continued for 11,000 when the flop came {k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}, and the blind called. Both players checked the {7-Hearts} on the turn, and then the {9-Clubs} completed the board on the river. The blind bet out for 15,500, and Luske quickly called. His opponent showed {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and Luske turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for a winning top pair on the flop. Luske pulled in the pot, and he was up to 258,000 after the hand.

Vo Heads Straight for the Exit

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We arrived at the table, just as Viet Vo committed the last of his chips in on a board reading {2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. He tabled his {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} for the over-pair and straight draw, but had run into his opponent’s {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for a made straight.

Unfortunately for Vo, the {q-Hearts} on the river was not the card he was looking for, as he made his way to the rail.

Aggression Gets It Done For ElkY

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Elky Grospellier
Elky Grospellier

After a raise and a call preflop, we saw Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier involved in a pot with Ricardo Souza. The flop came down {A-Spades}{8-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and Souza checked to Grospellier who fired off a bet of 4,200. Souza went into the tank and he thought for several minutes before announcing a raise and putting out a bet of 12,500. Grospellier decided to put in a reraise and he made it a total of 22,200.

After about a minute and a half in the tank Souza folded and Grospellier was awarded the pot. After that hand Grospellier sat with just about 240,000 chips.

Kevin Pollak Eliminated

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Kevin Pollak on Day 2a/b
Kevin Pollak on Day 2a/b

There will be no deep run for Kevin Pollak this year.

As relayed to us, Pollak opened to 3,200 in the cutoff and was called by Jay Robinson on the button. The player in the small blind called as well and the flop came down {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Shortly thereafter, Pollak was all in for about 50,000 with {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts} against Robinson's {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Pollak found no help from the {8-Spades} turn or {Q-Clubs} river, ending his Main Event.

Raghavan Gets A Few

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ravi Raghavan opened the action at his table with a raise to 3,500. Action folded around to the player on the button who put in a three bet to 7,800. Raghavan called.

The flop came down {J-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {5-Clubs} on the turn. Raghavan led the turn with a bet of 9,500 and his opponent called.

The river was the {j-Hearts} and both players decided to check. The player on the button showed {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} but it was no good as Raghavan showed {K-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for a better pair.

Tripodi Tangles with Elder and Seidel

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Clement Tripodi
Clement Tripodi

Rupert Elder opened to 4,000 from the hijack, and was called by Clement Tripodi on the button, as well as Erik Seidel in the blinds.

The flop came down {k-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, as Seidel checked his option. Elder then threw out a continuation bet of 6,200, which was called by Tripodi. Seidel opted to raise it up to 17,000, and was called by both his opponents.

The {10-Spades} fell on the turn, as the action checked around to Tripodi, who bet out 23,000. It was enough to take down the pot, as Elder and Seidel mucked their cards.

Kenney Trending Upward

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We found an under-the-gun Bryn Kenney firing a bet of 13,700 into a sizable heads-up pot on a flop of {k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Hearts}. His opponent made the call, and the two players took in a turn of {4-Spades}. Kenney bet 27,800 this time, and his opponent dumped in a raise to 64,000. Kenney counted out his stack and then announced he was all in. His opponent folded after about a minute of thought.
