Cliff Josephy, Dan O'Brien, and Brock Parker saw a flop of . Parker and Josephy both checked, and O'Brien bet 5,600 from the button. Parker shipped all-in, and Josephy thought for a minute before calling. O'Brien folded, and the other players turned up their cards:
Josephy: Parker:
Josephy had top pair, but Brock Parker was very live with an open-ended straight flush draw. Unfortunately for Parker, he missed both turn and river, and has now been eliminated from the tournament. Cliff Josephy is up to 194,000.
Three of the shootout's ten tables are now heads-up. At each of those tables, there is a clear chip leader, but the shorter stack has plenty of maneuvering room. Max Steinberg has a lead over Cherish Andrews, Brandon Cantu is leading Steven Silverman, and David "Bakes" Baker has a chip-advantage over Adam Friedman. All three heads-up battles are intense, back-and-forth contests, and it may still be a while before we have our first table winner.
Cherish Andrews raised to 4,500 on the button. Steinberg found a three bet from the big blind to 12,000. Andrews counted her chips before moving all in for roughly 100,000. Steinberg took a second to get a count before calling.
Andrews:
Steinberg:
It was the in the window which was sure to hurt Andrews, but the entire flop rolled out . "Nice hand," Steinberg said as he started to count out chips. The turn was the and the tiver was the , guaranteeing Andrews the double up.
Andrews and Steinberg are now back to just about even stacks.
David "Bakes" Baker has won his shootout table. According to Baker, in the final hand he raised with , and Friedman 3-bet shoved for about 50,000 with . The board provided no help to Friedman, and Baker advances to tomorrow's final table.
Cherish Andrews has chipped away at Max Steinberg's lead in their heads-up battle, but Steinberg recently came out on top in a big hand.
Steinberg checked on a flop of , and Andrews bet 4,500. Steinberg called, and the two saw a on the turn. This time Steinberg bet out 12,000. Andrews called, and the dealer put out the on the river. Steinberg checked, and Andrews bet 18,000. After thinking for a minute, Steinberg raised to 65,000. Now it was Andrews who spent a minute thinking, and she eventually decided to call. Steinberg tabled for a rivered flush, and Andrews mucked her cards.
Steven Silverman is a name that not many many know. Known as "Zugwat" online Silverman has over $1,000,000 in cashes online. But he has built himself a huge repertoire of poker cashes in live play as well. Most recently he won the EPT High Roller for over $1,000,000. Right now he's heads up against Brandon Cantu for a spot at tomorrow's final table.
Cantu will be searching for his third bracelet, while Silverman looks to collect his first. Right now Cantu has a bit of a chip lead, but the match could still go either way.
Kyle Julius has been eliminated from the tournament. Cliff Josephy and Dan O'Brien are now playing heads-up at that table to see who will advance to the final round tomorrow.
