Selbst Spikes an Ace to Eliminate Griffin in Brutal Fashion

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Ashton Griffin
Ashton Griffin

In one of the last hands before the break, Ashton Griffin opened with a raise from the hijack only to have Vanessa Selbst three-bet to 32,000 from the small blind. Griffin refused to back down and pushed back with a four-bet to 85,000. Selbst paused for a few moments before announcing that she was all in and Griffin snap-called off for around 290,000.

Griffin: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Selbst: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The {8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop delivered Selbst a gutshot straight draw, but it would be the {A-Diamonds} turn that would give her the lead and leave Griffin dejected. The {2-Clubs} river failed to help Griffin, who made a beeline to the exit while Selbst added to her already massive stack.
