After a whirlwind day of poker, play has come to an end on Day 1 of Event #23: $1,000 Turbo No-Limit Hold'em. The two-day, 30-minute level, 3,000 chip starting stack event was built to move fast and it did not disappoint.

Day 1 saw 1,473 entries take a shot at turbo glory, creating a prize pool of $1,325,700. The winner will receive a World Series of Poker gold bracelet and $251,969.

After 22 levels of play we are down to a final nine. Doug “WCGRider” Polk will take the chip lead into the final table with 971,000. Also bagging up top stacks at the end of play were Andy Philachack (906,000), and Liam Allock (779,000).

Also headlining the final table is non other than Anthony “wwwbetherecom” Gregg. Jonathan Hanner, Chad Cox, Andrew Mackenzie, Dash Dudley, and Gianluca Cedolia round out the survivors. Here is the Day 2, Final Table seating assignment:

SeatNameChip Count
1Andy Philachack906,000
2Jonathan Hanner442,000
3Chad Cox247,000
4Tony Gregg271,000

6Dash Dudley338,000
7Gianluca Cedolia202,000
8Doug Polk971,000
9Liam Allock779,000

The day wasn’t kind to the majority of entrants. Some familiar faces leaving with a bit of conciliation include Nam Le, Christophe De Meulder, Erik Cajelais, Dan Harrington, Jonas Mackoff, Justin Zaki, Griffin Benger, Scott Montgomery, Ryan Riess, and Aaron Steury.

Unable to secure a cash and falling victim to a quick exit were a huge number of pros. Liv Boeree, Greg Raymer, Loni Harwood, Moshin Charania, Tony Dunst, Vanessa Selbst, Allen Cunnigham, Jonathan Roy, Xuan Liu, Sorel Mizzi, Jason Duval, Ryan Hall, Mark Radoja, Joseph Cheong, Olivier Busquet, Brandon Cantu, Phil Laak, Will Failla, and Scott Clements, to name a few.

Play will resume on Tuesday at 1 P.M. in the Amazon room, where we will play down to a champion. As always, PokerNews will be there bringing you live hand-for-hand coverage till a winner is crowned.

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Amanda Baker
Amanda Baker

After getting aces cracked, Amanda Baker found herself riding a short stack and moved all in with {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Andy Philachack made the call with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and the board would run out {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} eliminating Baker in 10th place. They are now bagging and tagging for the night. We'll have final chip counts momentarily.

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Joe Palmer
Joe Palmer

A short stacked Joe Palmer moved all in over the top of Doug Polk's 28,000 chip opener. It was only a little more for Polk to make the call and he did so with {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Palmer had {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and would be eliminated in 11th place when the board ran out {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.

Rhys Jones

Rhys Jones was all in and at risk with {K-Clubs}{J-Spades} against Andrew Mackenzie's {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. The flop came {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} moving Jones into the lead but the {10-Hearts} on the turn gave Mackenzie a set of tens and Jones was drawing dead. The river was the {9-Hearts} and Jones was eliminated in 12th place.

Roman Valerstein

With a flop of {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Andy Philachack bet 65,000 and Roman Valerstein moved all in. Philachack made the call with {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and was trailing the overpair Valerstein held with {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and Valerstein only needed to face a nine or six to stay alive. The river was a cruel {9-Diamonds} though and Valerstein is knocked out in 13th place.

Keith Crowder Eliminated in 14th Place ($15,334)

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Keith Crowder
Keith Crowder

Keith Crowder would get the remainder of his stack in with {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Jonathan Hanner would look him up with {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Hanner would flop a set on the {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop and the {6-Clubs} turn and {K-Clubs} river did nothing to change the final outcome. Crowder was eliminated in 14th place and Hanner moved his stack to 400,000.

Kristina Holst
Kristina Holst

A short stacked Kristina Holst moved all in from under the gun and Andrew McKenzie also moved all in one seat to her left. Every one got out of the way and Holst would be taking {7-Spades}{6-Hearts} against McKenzie's {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. The board would run out {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} to knock Holst out in 15th place.

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Ryan Snickles
Ryan Snickles

Ryan Snickles was in great shape to score a double up when he picked up {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and was against Roman Valerstein's {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}. The first card in the window was the {4-Diamonds} to give Valerstein a set and when the final board run out was {K-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, Snickles would be eliminated in 16th place giving Valerstein some much needed chips in this super fast structure.
