Benger's World Series Runbad Continues

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Griffin Benger has had a few close calls at the World Series of Poker, most notably his 14th-place finish in Event #40 of the 2013 WSOP, but lady luck is rarely on his side during the latter stages here at the Rio. In his bust-out hand from that event, Benger was all in and at risk with pocket aces against Peter Hengsakul's pocket kings, and 25% of the chips in play were in the middle of the table.

The flop produced three blanks, as did the turn, but the river was the {k-Clubs}, and Benger was eliminated.

We just saw Benger take another brutal hit in a bracelet event, this time at the hands of Pratyush Buddiga. Buddiga opened to 12,000 on the button, Benger three-bet to 31,000 out of the small blind, and Buddiga moved all in for 196,000. Benger made a quick call, and had Buddiga dominated.

Buddiga: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Benger: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Benger remained ahead after the {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop, but the turn was the {j-Spades}, giving Buddiga a pair of jacks. The {3-Hearts} bricked off on the river, and Buddiga doubled to 400,000 chips.

Benger was crippled, left with just 31,000.
