Bonomo Won't Be Adding Any POY Points in Event #25

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

Stud Hi-Low

Justin Bonomo, who currently leads the 2014 WSOP Player of the Year race, has been nursing a short stack for awhile, and his time just ran out courtesy of John Lane. It happened in the last hand of Level 9 when Lane completed with the {A-Hearts} and then Bonomo raised to 1,200. Lane called and then bet fourth. Bonomo moved in for 900 total, and Lane called.

Bonomo: {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} / {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{k-Spades}{j-Spades} / {J-Diamonds}
Lane: {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} / {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{5-Spades} / {4-Hearts}

Bonomo ended up with kings and jacks, but it was no good as Lane made a better two pair in aces and sevens.

The Year of The Germans?

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Dominik Nitsche has won his second golden bracelet at the WSOP 2014 and the third in total to score a third bracelet for Germany at the current Series.

The other victory was on behalf of George Danzer and the mixed game specialist is sitting on a very healthy stack right now whereas Gregor Derkowski next to him has hit the rail in the last half an hour.

Bounty For Puchkov

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Stud Hi-Low

On the table of Vanessa Selbst, Konstantin Puchkov has had a few roller coaster levels as we saw him with as low as 5,000 and as high as 15,000 chips. He managed to almost double that in the last two hours or so, just now he knocked out a short stack when completing with the {5-Hearts} showing.

The short stack moved all in for 1,600 with the {9-Spades} showing and had a pair of nines until sixth. He threw the final card towards the dealer to declare defeat and the Russian scooped the pot.

Puchkov: {6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} / {5-Hearts}{A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} / {10-Hearts}

Friedman Wins a Nice One

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Stud Hi-Low

We picked up the action on sixth street when Allyn Jaffrey Shulman bet and Adam Friedman called. When Shulman checked seventh, Friedman perked up.

"Let's go, I'm good," Friedman said before betting. Shulman called.

Friedman: {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades} / {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Shulman: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{a-Spades} / {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Shulman had aces up, but it was no good as Friedman held trip jacks. Neither player had a low, so Friedman was pushed the whole pot.

Aces Up For Selbst

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Omaha Hi-Low

Vanessa Selbst made it 1,600 to go and Konstantin Puchkov called on the button, so did the big blind for the additional 800. On the {5-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop, the big blind folded when Selbst bet and Puchkov called. Selbst then checked the {Q-Hearts} turn and Puchkov led for 1,200 to get a call.

The {Q-Diamonds} river completed the board and Selbst reluctantly check-called 1,600 to get shown {A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{J-Spades} for fives and queens as well as a busted gutshot and low draw. Selbst tabled {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for aces up and scooped the pot.

Micon KO'd

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Stud Hi-Low

Bryan Micon just hastily left the tournament area from the same table as Shirley Rosario. She told us that Micon started the hand with {A-}{J-}{8-} and got it in against an opponent with {A-}{4-}{Q-}, who spiked an ace on fourth. Micon could not improve anymore and has been eliminated.

Three More Hands

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

The clock has been stopped and we will be playing three more hands and then bag and tag. Brian Nichols still seems to be the chip leader even though he lost some change and there is half a dozen opponents around 50,000 or more as well that may still jump into the top spot.
