Phil Ivey On The Rail

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Stud Hi-Low

It was the last hand in seven-card stud at the table of Ismael Bojang and Phil Ivey with the latter completing while showing the {7-Hearts}. Stanislav Parkhomenko from Bulgaria called with the {2-Hearts} showing and kept betting until fifth when Ivey got the remainder of his stack in.

Parkhomenko: {K-Diamonds}{K-} / {2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-} / {8-}
Ivey: {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} / {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} / {7-Diamonds}

Ivey ended up with a measly pair of sevens, which failed to overcome Parkhomenko’s kings with a low.

Ivey Not Done Yet

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Stud Hi-Low

First we saw Phil Ivey complete with the {10-Diamonds} and all opponents folded to give him the bring the antes. One hand later he showed the {9-Hearts} and completed again, two opponents called with aces showing. Ivey called all bets until sixth street where he tossed in his last 100 with a pair of jacks showing and both other players made the call.

Opponent 1: (x-x) / {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} / muck
Opponent 2: {A-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs} / {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Ivey: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} / {9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{J-Clubs}{J-Spades} / {6-Diamonds}

It was a split pot but over those two hands, Ivey has more than doubled his short stack.

"That Was Like the Best Card in History"

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Stud Hi-Low

The player with the bring-in opted to complete showing the {3-Spades}, which inspired famed tournament director Matt Savage to called with the {q-Spades} up. Tony Cousineau then raised to 1,000, the other player made it 1,500, and Savage folded. Cousineau then made it 2,000, the other player called, and it was off to fourth street. The two raised back and forth until the unknown player got his last 2,100 in the pot.

"That was like the best card in history," Cousineau said of the {3-Clubs}. Indeed, it helped his hand a great deal.

Cousineau: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} / {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{7-Spades} / {6-Clubs}
Opponent: {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} / {3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} / {Q-Clubs}

Cousineau made a flush on seventh with a 6-5-4-3-A low, which left his opponent drawing dead.

Ivey Barely Hanging On

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Omaha Hi-Low

Things have taken a turn for the worse for Phil Ivey the last couple levels.

In a recent hand, there was a few thousand in the pot when Phil Ivey checked the river on a board reading {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. His opponent did the same and tabled the {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a set of threes. It was good too as Ivey simply sent his cards to the muck.

Stud Hi-Low

The action got around to Norman Chad and he completed with the {A-Diamonds} showing, two players did so as well. They checked fourth and one opponent folded on fifth with {7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Hearts} showing. Howard Mann however didn't go anywhere and called the final bet of Chad for the last 300.

Mann: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{X-}
Chad: {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} / {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{J-Spades} / {10-Spades}

The fives and threes were not enough for Chad and before he left the table, he granted the request of the woman in seat two just next to him for a selfie.
