Negreanu and Abrams Square Off

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Stud Hi-Low

Scott Abrams completed with the {8-Hearts} and received a call from Daniel Negreanu and another player, who were showing the {J-Diamonds} and {a-Diamonds} respectively. The unknown player then bet fourth, Abrams called, and Negreanu raised to 400. Both his opponents called and Abrams checked when he paired his ten on fifth.

Negreanu bet 400, two calls followed, and then Abrams check-called a bet of 400 from Negreanu on sixth. The other players folded and Abrams check-called one more bet on seventh.

Abrams: {8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds} / {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Negreanu: {j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{4-Spades} / {5-Hearts}{j-Spades}{3-Spades}
Opponent: (x-x) / {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} fold

Abrams ended with tens and fives for two pair, which was good for the high, as Negreanu had the low with 6-5-4-3-A.

Ivey Gets Some

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Omaha Hi-Low

Phil Ivey raised from early position and got three callers in Mike Gorodinsky, George Danzer and the big blind. Gorodinsky made it three bets on the {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{J-Hearts} flop and Danzer as well as Ivey called. Danzer then folded the {3-Diamonds} turn to a single bet of Gorodinsky whereas Ivey stuck around.

The {2-Diamonds} completed the board and Ivey tabled {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} as winning hand after both players checked and the defending champion mucked. "How much you got over there. About 9k?" he asked Ivey and got 9,500 as reply. Well, that helps us as we don't have to count ourselves.

Shak Runs Over Farha

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Stud Hi-Low

Both players had several bets in and a rather annoyed Sammy Farha reached over the table to see the cards of his opponent. He then told the dealer to "stop splitting the pot" as he could not beat Dan Shak's two pair and was left with very few chips.

Shak: {10-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} / {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Farha: {8-Spades}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts} / {5-Spades}{J-Spades}{3-Hearts}

Raymer & Israelashvili Among Early Eliminations

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

2004 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Greg Raymer got off to a rough start this evening, and he wasn't able to right the ship. We missed his elimination hand, but we learned after the fact that it happened in the stud hi-low round. He had kings showing, but his opponent ended up making trip sevens. Whatever the case, it spelled the end for Raymer.

Meanwhile, Roland Israelashvili has also been eliminated from the tournament.

The Peril of Late Registering

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Whenever a player late-registers for a tournament, they run the risk of being seated alongside other late registrants. Many of the game's best often late reg, including Phil Ivey and Phil Hellmuth, and every once in awhile it results in a stacked final table.

Case in point: Jim Ferrel. The elder statesman at Table 413 - who has two WSOP cashes for $39,605 - finds himself up against some stiff competition. Check it out:

Yu With a Mediocre Start

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Stud Hi-Low

Ben Yu returned for Day 3 of the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship earlier today but was sent to the rail. He then jumped into this event and is on a table with Lupe Soto and Michel Abecassis. He made three-bets into third street and was called by four opponents, yet that was reduced to one after fifth street when Yu kept single-betting. Both players turned over their cards:

Yu: {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} / {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{8-Clubs} / {J-Diamonds}
Opponent: {6-Hearts}{A-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs} / {4-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{X-}

Chop it up.

Omaha Hi-Low

Allen Kessler raised and then called the bets on each street of a {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{9-Spades} board. His opponent mucked after the river call and Kessler asked if he had to show the hand in order to collect the pot. A floorperson was called and confirmed the rule according to WSOP, and Kessler was forced to turn over {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

Dovzhenko Takes from Green

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Stud Hi-Low

We caught the action on fourth street when Alexander Dovzhenko bet 150, Roland Israelashvili folded, and Kristy Green called. Green proceeded to call bets from Dovzhenko on both fifth and sixth. The two checked seventh.

Israelashvili: (x-x) / {10-Clubs}{7-Spades} fold
Dovzhenko: {k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} / {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Green: {3-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Spades} / {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{x-}

Green squeezed out her last card and revealed only a pair of threes and no low. Dovzhenko then rolled over trip fives to claim the pot.

Despite losing that hand, Green is still off to a good start here in Event #25, already up to double the starting stack.
