Level 18

Aaron Steury won the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2011 World Series of Poker for $289,283 after defeating a field of 963 players. In 2014, he already has three WSOP cashes to make this one his fourth, and those include a fifth-place finish in Event #16: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball for $22,935.

During his run in Event #16, PokerNews' very own Sarah Grant chatted with Steury about playing poker in his hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana and tested him on a Scale of 2-7.

25th Through 32nd Place Eliminations ($5,185)

Level 18

Murphy Eliminated by Collopy

Level 18

Omaha 8

Jim Collopy raised from early position and it folded over to Braden Murphy who three-bet from the small blind. Adam Friedman folded his big blind and Collpy made it four bets to go. Murphy called and the duo took a flop of {8-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}. Murphy led out with a bet and Collopy cut out a raise. Murphy called.

On fourth street, Murphy checked and Collopy made a bet. Murphy thought for about 20 seconds before making a raise all in. Collopy instantly called and the cards were turned up.

Collopy: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Murphy: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

The board completed with the {3-Clubs}, keeping Collopy in the lead and allowing him to score the elimination. He's now sitting on about 245,000 in chips.

Stud 8

We didn't see the action but did catch Aaron Steury taking down a big pot and Jim Bucci being sent to the rail. David "ODB" Baker was also looking a bit glum as a good number of his chips were being sent Steury's way. The hands were as follows:

Bucci: {A-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{K-Clubs} for a pair of eights
Baker: {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a 65 low with a pair of nines
Steury: {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a 65 low with a heart flush

Friedman Busts Smith

Limit Hold'em

John Monnette opened with a late position raise and Adam Friedman made it three bets from the small blind. Matthew Smith four-bet the action and Monnette folded his hand. Friedman called and the flop came down {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Friedman led out with a bet and Smith called for his tournament life.

Friedman: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Smith: {A-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Friedman led with his pocket fives and held that lead through the turn ({4-Hearts}) and the river ({3-Hearts}). Smith was eliminated from play and Friedman added to his stack, which now sits around 115,000.
