Monnette Wheeling and Dealing

Level 13
John Monnette
John Monnette

Stud 8

John Monnette: {X-}{X-}/{8-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}/{X-}
David Levi: {X-}{X-}/{2-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs}/{X-}

John Monnette raised and David Levi joined in on the action. Monnette would bet on 4th street and Levi called. This action would be repeated on every street and at showdown Monnette would show down cards of {10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a flush and a wheel. A disappointed Levi showed {10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for a 65 low that was no good. Monnette scooped the pot and the mixed game tournament specialist is poised to make a deep run in this event. Monnette has $1.38 million in lifetime WSOP earnings to go with his 2 bracelets and 32 cashes. His bracelet wins have come in Seven Card Stud and Eight Game Mix.

Torosyan Falls to Schultz

Level 13

Limit Hold'em

Jon Turner opened the hijack with a raise and Levon Torosyan made it three bets to go from the button. Matthew Schultz four-bet from the small blind and it folded back to Turner who capped the action. Both Torosyan and Schultz called.

The flop fell {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs} and action checked around to Torosyan on the button. He moved all in for his last 500 and both opponents called. The {2-Clubs} turned and Schultz led with a bet. Turner tossed out a call and the {A-Hearts} on the river prompted two checks from the remaining players. Schultz showed {J-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and Turner instantly mucked his cards. The all-in Torosyan showed {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes and the second best hand. He was eliminated from play and Schultz raked in the pot.

Levy Makes Boat

Level 13

Stud

Boyd: {x-}{x-} / {5-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} / {x-}
Gus: {x-}{x-} / {10-Clubs}{7-Hearts} -fold
Levy: {x-}{x-} / {3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} / {x-}

Barry Levy was the bring in with a trey exposed and Dutch Boyd completed from two seats over. Brandon Gus called and Levy called to see fourth as well. Boyd acted first by pulling an ace on fourth and he tossed out a bet. Gus folded his hand and Levy called. Boyd fired again on fifth only to have Levy cut out a raise. Boyd called and then check-called a bet on sixth.

Both players received their seventh street card and Boyd tapped the table. Levy bet out once more and Boyd instantly announced call. Levy rolled over {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for tens full of treys for the win. He scooped up the pot and now has about 50,000 in chips. Boyd, on the other hand, has dropped to 80,000.

Hoeppner Bets Out Walters

Level 12

Limit Hold'em

James Hoeppner raised from under the gun and action folded all of the way around the table to Bruce Walters in the big blind. He tossed out a call and the two took a flop.

The dealer fanned {6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} on the felt and Walters checked. Hoeppner continued with a bet and Walters stuck around. The turn was the {10-Spades} and Walters once again check-called a bet. On the {J-Diamonds} river, Walters checked for a third time and Hoeppner bet. Walters quickly kicked in his cards and Hoeppner picked up the pot. He's now sitting around 22,000 while Walters' stack has dropped to 30,000.

Jeff Shulman Loses Some

Level 12

Razz

Jeff Shulman: {X-}{X-}/{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}/{X-}
Opponent: {X-}{X-}/{A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts}/{X-}

A player with the {A-Hearts} showing brought it in for a raise and Jeff Shulman re-raised. A player in Seat Two called and the original raiser called as well. On fourth street, the player in Seat Two bet, the original raiser folded, and Shulman called. On fifth street, Shulman check-called a bet. He would then lead out on sixth street and his opponent would make the call. Both players would check after receiving their down card. Shulman would show {A-}{5-}{X-} for a 95 low. His opponent would show {7-}{5-}{3-} for an 87 low which was good enough to give him the pot.
