Chino Rheem, pictured in an earlier event.

Chino Rheem put his opponent all in on the end when the board came {4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, and the player quickly gathered his chips and pushed forward his last 30,000 or so.

"You have aces full?" Rheem said, perhaps expecting the worst after his opponent called so fast.

"No," the player said with a laugh, showing {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for top-top.

Rheem could beat that: {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a straight on the river, and he collected his opponent's stack.

Liebert Leaves

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 0 ante
Kathy Liebert.
Kathy Liebert.

Kathy Liebert mercilessly tossed her last 5,600 in the middle before the flop and Tony Cousineau made the call from the big blind knowing he was likely behind.

It was {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for Liebert against {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for Cousineau, but he picked up a flush draw on the {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop. It materialized on the {9-Hearts} turn and Liebert left after the {7-Spades} river.

"You called me with jack-eight you big dummy," she joked on the way out the door.

Stammen Sends Stein Home

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

After a raise from early position it was Keven Stammen who called from the button. Sam Stein was next to act and he tanked for a bit before announcing a pot sized reraise. The initial raiser quickly folded and Stammen re-potted immediately.

Stein threw in his chips, for a total of 48,000, and the cards were turned face up.

Stammen: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Stein: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Stammen raked in this pot.

Esfandiari Loses "Side Pot"

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Antonio Esfandiari is running better in the tournament than he is in side bets.
Antonio Esfandiari is running better in the tournament than he is in side bets.

Sorel Mizzi just sauntered into the tournament area and engaged Antonio Esfandiari in a "flip for $5,000." Esfandiari anointed neighbor Amit Makhija to do the honors, picking out two hundos from a stack of bills. Each player was given one of the bills, and the two slowly peeked down at the serial numbers one by one, turning it into a poker hand. Esfandiari began swearing halfway through the sweat, and sure enough, he pulled out some casino chips and shipped them to an ecstatic Mizzi. Mizzi turned down Esfandiari's offer for double or nothing.

Mercier Loses A Race

Mercier Crowned.
Mercier Crowned.

Don Nguyen made it 4,300 under the gun and after calls from John Hennigan and the button, Jason Mercier raised it up to 15,200.

Nguyen potted for 56,200 total and after Hennigan and the button folded, Mercier pushed in for what appeared to be only slightly more.

Nguyen called with {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} against Mercier's {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} and it was all but over on the {k-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop. Mercier found no jack on the {6-Hearts} turn or {4-Spades} river and hit the rail.

SirWatts Versus Seidel

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Erik Seidel made it 3,300 to see a flop and Mike Watson made the call. Watson checked the {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop and Seidel joined him.

Following the {5-Spades} turn and a check from Watson, Seidel bet 5,000 and Watson called. They joined forces in checking the {q-Diamonds} river and Siedel's {4-}{4-} was beaten by Watson's {a-}{q-}.
