Hands #78-79: Kurshumi Swims on the River

Level 26 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Hand #78: Brian Yoon opened for 60,000 from the button and took down the blinds and antes.

Hand #79: Josh Bergman raised to 60,000 from the button and Josh Arieh called from the small blind. Ardit Kurshumi then three-bet to 165,000 from the big, Bergman folded, and Arieh moved all in. Kurshumi called off for 760,000 and the cards were turned up.

Kurshumi: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Arieh: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Kurshumi had some kicker issues, but they didn't get resolved on the {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop, though he did pick up a gutshot straight draw. He needed to hit it too as Arieh had paired his eight. The {Q-Hearts} turn improved Arieh to trips, which meant Kurshumi would stay alive with a jack and a jack only on the river.

Kurshumi's rail bellowed for a jack, and the dealer listened as the {J-Hearts} spiked on the river to give Kurshumi new life.
