Event #47: $1,500 Ante-Only No-Limit Hold'em

Day 1 Started

Time to Ante Up!

Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and the 2014 World Series of Poker for Event #47: $1,500 Ante-Only No-Limit Hold'em!

This unique twist to the standard No-Limit Hold'em tournament attracted 678 players in 2013 with Ben Volpe capturing his first bracelet and the $201,399 first prize.

With today's tournament being the only scheduled tournament for the series on today, a bigger field than last year will be expected as the Event #46: $50,000 Poker Players Championship takes center stage over in the Amazon Room.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand from 12:00 p.m. (PDT) to provide continuous live updates throughout the day as we look to write the path of the future Event #47 Champion!

State of Play

Level 1

WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel has just gone through the rules for this event to all the players.

Players begin with a 4,500-chip starting bank and will play ten 60-minute levels with a dinner break after six levels.

This unique format of tournament poker means that players will ante every hand, and to come into the pot the minimum will be whatever the smallest denomination chip of the tournament currently is — in this case 25, and in later levels today, 100.

Unlike other tournaments where throwing in an oversized chip is usually the minimum preflop, if an oversized chip is used preflop in this tournament it is treated as a bring-in of that very amount.
