Laliberté's Flush Bests Polk's Straight

Level 3 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

On a board of {7-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, Doug Polk led out for 187,000 against Guy Laliberté. Laliberté thought for a moment before sliding out a call.

The {10-Clubs} dropped down on the river, putting a third club on the board. Polk checked and Laliberté instantly checked it back, rolling {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} onto the felt for a rivered flush. Polk showed {9-Spades}{6-Spades} for a straight before his hand was picked up and placed into the muck.

"Aw, s**t!" exclaimed Laliberté after seeing Polk's straight. "I could have made money!"

"I thought I was a stone lock to win that hand after you checked back," said Polk. "A five star lock."
