One Way to Lose a Hand

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

At the table of Pok Kim we noticed a bigger pot develop as Ricardo Tavares and his opponent got their stacks in preflop. It was a classic race with {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} for the opponent and the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} of Tavaras.

The {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop seemed devastating for Tavares, but the {A-Spades} turn and {A-Diamonds} river gave him quads to scoop the pot. "Wow, that is one way to lose a hand," the opponent said before leaving the table with a grin on his face.

Peters Loses Flip

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

We didn't catch the full preflop action but David Peters had a short stack at risk for 1,300 with {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} and the opponent made the nut straight on the turn with {K-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

Allen Kessler had a similar situation, but his {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} held up versus {9-Spades}{8-Spades} on a {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} board.

Numbers Climb as Players Bust and Buy Back In

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

The total number of entrants is up to 3,880 meaning we're up to 1,938 for the day, just four less than the total we had yesterday. We've noticed several players firing a second (or more) bullet including Matt Brady and Greg Mueller. The tournament has players in all three rooms, including ten to fifteen tables in Amazon where Matt Salbserg is quietly hiding with a stack of 9,000.

With unlimited reentry for the first six levels, the tournament will easily exceed 4,000 and should approach the 4,756 that this event drew last year.

Triple Up For Shulman

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

After unknown preflop action, Allyn Jaffrey Shulman saw the {3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop and the player in the big blind as well as the initial raiser checked. A player in middle position bet 300 and Shulman called before the player on the button three-bet to 1,200. Both the player in the big blind as well as the initial raiser called and Shulman moved all in for 2,425.

She was called by two opponents that ended up checking down the {4-Spades} turn and the {Q-Hearts} river. Shulman showed {6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and more than tripled up.

Khait Wins More

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

First Anna Khait told us how she got her first big pot of the day. She called a raise to 225 from the button against two opponents with {A-Spades}{3-Spades} and found a {3-Diamonds}{3-}{7-Diamonds} flop. The continuation bet of 525 from the initial raiser was just called by her and the player in the cutoff folded.

On the {9-Hearts} turn she check-called 900 and the {Q-Diamonds} river completed the board. The opponent moved all in for 2,500 with {A-}{Q-} and was sent to the rail.

Shortly after we noticed her raising to 250 and she got two callers. On the {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop she called 400 and did so again after the {7-Spades} turn for 1600 before both players checked the {7-Spades} river. Khait showed the {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and that won the pot.
