Big Pot Gives Forrest the Chip Lead

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Hellmuth loses the chip lead for first time in heads-up play.
Hellmuth loses the chip lead for first time in heads-up play.

Phil Hellmuth brought it in with a {2-} and then raised when Ted Forrest completed with an {A-}. Forrest pushed back with a reraise, Hellmuth called and it was off to fourth street. Hellmuth caught a {9-} and bet after Forrest received a {J-}. Forrest called and then bet himself when he took the lead on fifth. Hellmuth called and then called bets on both sixth and seventh.

Hellmuth: (x-x) / {2-}{9-}{q-}{3-} / {x-}
Forrest: {a-}{j-}{8-}{4-} / {5-}{3-}{9-}

Forrest tabled an 8-5-4-3-A low and it was good as Hellmuth mucked. With that pot Forrest has clawed his way into the chip lead for the first time.

Slow Going

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Phil Hellmuth and Ted Forrest haven't played too many big pots, and as of late they're basically trading blind and bring-ins. Both of these players have a razz bracelet to their credit, so they know how to play the game. As it stands right now it looks like they're both content to grind it out. A big hand could change that though.

A Little More for Forrest

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Phil Hellmuth brought it in with a {6-} and then raised after Ted Forrest completed with a {5-}. Forrest reraised, Hellmuth called, and then Forrest bet fourth. Hellmuth called that bet but then folded to one on fifth street.

Hellmuth: (x-x) / {6-}{j-}{2-} fold
Forrest: (x-x) / {5-}{a-}{7-}

Small One for Forrest

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Ted Forrest brought it in with a {3-} and then called when Phil Hellmuth completed with his {A-}. Forrest then called a bet on fourth street and then both players checked fifth. Hellmuth then checked sixth and folded when Forrest bet.

Hellmuth: (x-x) / {a-}{j-}{8-}{9-} fold
Forrest: (x-x) / {3-}{k-}{8-}{6-}

Forrest Fighting Back

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante

Ted Forrest had the bring-in with a {7-} and Phil Hellmuth just called with a {5-}. When Forrest received a {3-} on fourth street, he bet and Hellmuth, who had picked up a {K-}, made the call. Forrest then bet fifth, Hellmuth raised, and Forrest three-bet. Hellmuth called and then called a bet on sixth. Both players checked on seventh.

Forrest: {7-}{3-}{5-}{A-} / {4-}{a-}{8-}
Hellmuth: (x-x) / [5xkxx7x] / {x-}

"Seven-six-five," Hellmuth declared, which prompted Forrest to table his winning 7-5-4-3-A low.

Not Much Chip Movement Thus Far

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante

The final two have played a few hands, but so far few chips have moved. In a recent hand, Ted Forrest had the bring-in with an {8-} and Hellmuth completed with a {3-}. Forrest called and then bet on fourth when he took the lead. Hellmuth called that bet and then one on fifth. Forrest then checked sixth and folded to a bet from Hellmuth.

Forrest: (x-x) / {8-}{4-}{6-}{j-} fold
Hellmuth: (x-x) / {3-}{k-}{5-}{2-}
