Another for Hellmuth

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Greg Pappas completed with a {7-} and then called when Phil Hellmuth raised with a {6-}. Hellmuth then bet fourth, Pappas called, and it was off to fifth street. Pappas bet when he took the lead, Hellmuth called, and then Hellmuth check-called a bet on sixth.

Hellmuth proceeded to bet on seventh and Pappas called.

Pappas: (x-x) / {7-}{k-}{8-}{9-} / {x-}
Hellmuth: (x-x) / {6-}{j-}{10-}{a-} / {x-}

Hellmuth's cards got scooped up before we got a good look at them, but we do know he won the pot with an eight-six low.

Forrest vs. Pappas

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Ted Forrest completed with a {4-} and Greg Pappas called with an {8-}. Pappas then called bets from Forrest on all remaining streets.

Forrest: {4-}{6-}{3-}{j-} / {9-}{5-}{j-}
Pappas: {8-}{6-}{10-}{6-} / {a-}{4-}{k-}

Pappas ended with a 10-8-6-4-A low, but that was no good as Forrest made a 9-6-5-4-3 low.

Updated Chip Counts at the Break

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

David Bach Eliminated in 4th Place ($34,979)

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
David Bach - 4th Place
David Bach - 4th Place

Phil Hellmuth completed with a {6-} and then called when David "Gunslinger" Bach raised with a {3-}. Hellmuth then check-called a bet on fourth street before leading out on fifth. Bach raised, Hellmuth reraised, and Bach called off his remaining chips.

Hellmuth: {10-}{8-} / {6-}{3-}{7-}{q-} / {4-}
Bach: {6-}{4-} / {3-}{9-}{2-}{j-} / {2-}

Bach was ahead with a nine low when the last of his chips went in, but Hellmuth managed to catch an 8-7-6-4-3 low on the river. Bach was drawing live, but when he squeezed out his cards he discovered another deuce to pair.

Bach has to settle for fourth place and $34,979. He was no doubt hoping to do better, but notching a fourth-place finish after finishing runner-up in this event last year is an impressive feat indeed.

The Gunslinger Hits His Mark

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

David Bach brought it in with a {Q-} and Greg Pappas just called with a {2-}. Bach then led out on fourth street when Pappas paired, but a call followed. Pappas then bet fifth and called when Bach raised all in for 29,000.

Bach: {a-}{7-} / {q-}{3-}{q-}{a-} / {7-}
Pappas: {9-}{5-} / {2-}{2-}{9-}{5-} / {A-}

Pappas made a 2-2-9-5-A low, but it was no good as Bach had an A-A-q-7-3 low (remember aces are low in razz). Ship the double to Bach.

Bach Loses Some More

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

David Bach had the bring in with a {Q-} and then called when Phil Hellmuth completed with a {9-}. Hellmuth proceeded to bet the next three streets and Bach called. Hellmuth then checked dark headed into seventh and Bach checked behind.

Bach: (x-x)/ {q-}{7-}{a-}{k-} / {x-}
Hellmuth: {9-}{5-}{6-}{10-} / {a-}{6-}{4-}

Hellmuth's 9-6-5-4-A low earned him the pot.
