Ronnie Bardah's Nuts

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Ronnie Bardah
Ronnie Bardah

After calling a check-raise on a flop of {j-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}, Ronnie Bardah was faced with another bet from Brian Tsang on the turn ({a-Hearts}). He moved all in for 83,9000, Tsang called, and both players showed a flush.

Bardah: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Tsang: {8-Spades}{6-Spades}

Tsang was drawing dead, and a meaningless {9-Spades} completed the board. Bardah, who has cashed in four consecutive Main Events, including a 24th-place finish in 2010, doubled to 208,000 chips. Tsang tumbled to 70,000.

Flip Master Haralabos

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A short-stacked Haralabos Voulgaris shoved all-in for 18,200 from the hijack and received a call from the player in the hijack. The rest of the players folded and the cards were turned on their backs.

Voulgaris: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Cutoff: {a-}{k-}

It was a flip, and Voulgaris was looking to hold to double through. He did just that as the board ran out a harmless {3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

"Flip master Haralabos," someone at the other end of the table said. Flip master, indeed.

Patel Takes a Hit

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Kunal Patel and a player were heads-up on a board of {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and action checked over to Patel. He fired out a fourth street bet of 3,600 only to have his opponent slide out a check-raise to 7,600. Patel thought for a bit before dropping calling chips forward.

The board paired on the river with the {2-Diamonds} and Patel's opponent came out swinging for 11,100. Patel tanked for just over a minute before he moved for chips and dropped them into the center of the table. His opponent showed {A-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for aces and sevens, which prompted a muck from Patel. Patel's stack has been decreased to about 121,000.

Pierce Plays Defender

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Action folded to the player in the small blind and he raised to 3,000. Paul Pierce opted to defend from the big blind and the two saw a flop of {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. The small blind bet 3,000, Pierce called, and the dealer burned and turned the {J-Clubs}.

The small blind bet again, this time 6,500, and Pierce called once again. When the {8-Hearts} completed the board on the river, the small blind checked and then folded to a bet of 7,000 from Pierce.

Ivey Over 500K

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

There was a raise to 2,000 from early position, and Phil Ivey, who is enjoying a lucky apple from Pat and Mel Humphries, asked the player how many chips he had. The player moved his arms so Ivey could see his stack, and Ivey called, taking a big bite out of the apple after flicking the chips forward.

The rest of the players folded, and both players checked on a flop of {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. The turn was the {j-Diamonds}, the player check-called a bet of 3,700 from Ivey, and the {6-Hearts} completed the board.

The player checked, Ivey casually flipped out 8,000, and the player called. Ivey turned over {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a pair of kings, and took down the pot.

Steury's River Check Raise Fails

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With 14,000 in the pot and the board showing {7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, Aaron Steury checked to his opponent who bet 8,000. Steury thought it over for a moment before he check-raised to 26,600. His opponent didn't think too long before tossing in a call. Steury turned over {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} for just ace-high while his opponent would be rewarded with the pot for making a nice call with {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Steury would be down to 19,000 after the completion of the hand.
