Einhorn Finds a Double

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
David Einhorn doubles
David Einhorn doubles

A very short-stacked David Einhorn was all in and at risk for 88,000 holding {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} on one for the first hands back from break, and Brian Yoon had him at risk and dominated with {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}.

The dealer fanned {10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, giving Yoon a pair of queens, but Einhorn had a Broadway draw and held the only heart. The {8-Spades} on the turn changing nothing, and the river wasn't a heart, but the {k-Spades} gave Einhorn a winning straight.

He doubled to 194,000 chips, while Yoon slipped to 160,000.

Move Shklover Derkowski

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Just before the break, a big hand was brewing between Michael Shklover and Grzegorz Derkowski. We picked up the action on a {5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop when Derkowski checked and Shklover bet 16,500. Derkowski proceeded to check-raise to 40,000, Shklover called, and the {Q-Hearts} appeared on the turn. Derkowski checked for a second time and Shklover bet 25,000.

Derkowski responded by check-raising all in for 55,000 and Shklover wasted little time in making the call.

Derkowski: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Shklover: {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Derkowski had flopped tens and fives, but it was no good as Shklover held trips. The {7-Hearts} river was no help to Derkowski, and he was eliminated from the tournament in 587th place for $20,228.

Jattin Six-Bet Bluffs Kenny Tran

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Kenny Tran
Kenny Tran

Farid Jattin raised to 15,000 from the hijack and Kenny Tran three-bet from the button to 43,000. Both blinds folded and Jattin did not waste must time before four-betting to 102,000.

The action was now back on Tran who gave it some thought before putting out a five-bet to 230,000 total.

Jattin tanked for about two minutes and ultimately he moved all in. Tran did some tanking on his own and ultimately he let go of his hand.

Jattin quickly tabled the {2-Clubs} and with this big bluff he has put himself near the top of the chip counts.

Grondin Gone

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Laurence Grondin
Laurence Grondin

After losing nearly all of her stack with {a-}{4-} against the {j-}{j-} of Gregory Josifovski, Laurence Grondin was all in and at risk with {5-}{3-} against the {7-}{5-} of Josifovski.

The flop and turn all brought high cards, and Grondin was a favorite to chop, but the river was a {6-} and Josifovski's seven played.

Grondin was eliminated, while Josifovski is up to 180,000.

Jacobson Picks One Up

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Robin Bergren opened to 12,000 from middle position and Martin Jacobson defended his big blind to see a {J-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop.

Both players checked as the {5-Clubs} landed on the turn and Jacobson bet out 12,000. Bergren folded and Jacobson raked in the pot to move to 845,000 in chips.

Brecher Crippled

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

On a flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, Steve Brecher checked from the big blind and Brett Trevillian did the same from middle position. Scott Palmer then bet 24,000 from late position, Brecher check-raised all in for 213,000, and Trevillian called off for 211,000. Palmer got out of the way and the cards were tabled.

Brecher: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Trevillian: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Brecher, who eliminated Ryan Riess from the tournament on Day 3, had flopped a set of fours, but it was no good as Trevillian had flopped top set. Neither the {K-Diamonds} turn nor {2-Clubs} river were the one outer Brecher was looking for, and he was knocked down to just 2,000.

Brecher More Than Triples Up

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From middle position, Antonio Moreno raised to 12,000. Steve Brecher called all in for 11,000 from the button, Tom Brownscombe called the raise from the small blind, and everyone else folded.

The flop came down {6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}, and Brownscombe and Moreno checked to see the {4-Hearts} land on the turn. After Brownscombe checked, Moreno bet 10,000. Brownscombe called.

The river was the {2-Diamonds}, and Brownscombe and Moreno checked.

Brownscombe showed the {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} to win the side pot, then Brecher showed the {K-Spades}{3-Clubs} to win the main pot.
