Broderick Takes a Hit

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Jon Broderick
Jon Broderick

Jon Broderick led out for 15,000 on a flop of {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, Mats Karlsson raised to 45,000, and Broderick tank-called.

The turn was the {2-Diamonds}, Broderick led out again - this time for 40,000 - and Karlsson just called.

Both players checked on the river ({7-Clubs}), and Broderick showed {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} for effectively ace high. Karlsson turned over {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for sixes and deuces and was awarded the pot.

Yousefzadeh Squeezes

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Following a raise to 13,000 and three calls, Mehrdad Yousefzadeh peeked down at his hole cards and then raised it up to 138,000 from the small blind.

One by one each player folded as Yosefzadeh was eventually pushed the pot to send his stack upwards of 1,430,000.

Van Hoof Cleans Up

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Jorryt van Hoof raised to 14,000 and Ali Davar three-bet all in from the cutoff for 102,000. The action was folded back to Van Hoof and he tanked for quite a while before making the call.

Van Hoof: {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Davar: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

Davar looked to be headed towards a double up, but the flop brought out {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Van Hoof hit trips and the turn, the {6-Spades}, and the river, the {7-Diamonds}, did not turn things around for Davar.

Van Hoof raked in this pot and Davar hit the rail.

Bojang Doubles Through Belluscio

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

William Cole opened for 13,000 in middle position, and Julio Belluscio called from the cutoff. Ismael Bojang made it 45,000 on the button, and Cole quickly folded. Belluscio asked for a count, and the Argentinian moved all in when he saw Bojang had about 155,000 behind. Bojang snap-called.

Bojang: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Belluscio: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Belluscio offered a fist bump to his neighbor, but Bojang declined with a chuckle, saying he would wait to see if he won. He had Belluscio dead on the turn as the board came {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

Pahuja & Galfond Eliminated from Secondary Feature Table

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Phil Galfond in earlier WSOP action.
Phil Galfond in earlier WSOP action.

We missed the elimination of Vinny Pahuja from the secondary feature table, but one of the television crew were kind enough to fill us in on his final hand. Apparently it happened at the tail end of Level 16 when he got his stack all in preflop holding {a-}{j-} and ran smack dab into the {a-}{k-} of an opponent. The board ran out clean and one half of the Brothers Pahuja was felled in 575th place for $20,228.

More recently at the same table, there was about 60,000 in the pot and a flop of {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} when Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond got his last 90,000 or so all in against Fabian Deimann.

Galfond: {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Deimann: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

Galfond had flopped an open-ended straight draw with his ducks, but Deimann flopped a better one with pocket sixes. The {7-Diamonds} turn actually gave Deimann a seven-high straight, and that meant Galfond could only chop with a six on the river. It didn't happen though as the {4-Diamonds} blanked and Galfond found himself on the rail in 527th place for $22,678.

Kilpatrick Chips Up

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Mike Parisi opened from the hijack to 14,000 only to have Kory Kilpatrick three-bet in the cutoff to 37,000. Parisi made the call as the dealer spread a {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop with Kilpatrick continuing for 21,000.

Parisi made the call before both players checked the {5-Diamonds} on the turn.

When the river landed the {K-Clubs}, Parisi checked and Kilpatrick pushed out a bet of 53,000 to force a fold from Parisi as Kilpatrick moved to 244,000 in chips.

Graham Doubles Through King

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Ruth Graham got her last 67,000 all in before the flop against Lasell King. Fortunately for Graham, she was in a dominating position heading to the community cards.

Graham: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}
King: {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}, keeping Graham's jacks out in front. She scored the double and now has about 135,000 in chips.
