Day 1 of Event #43: 1,000 Super Seniors, a tournament that requires participant to be 65 years of age or older, drew 1,533 players and created a $1,379,700 prize pool. The eventual winner will get $262,220, and after 10 levels of play, Henry Hannigan bagged up the biggest stack among the 253 survivors with 115,000 in chips. The only other players to break the six-figure mark were Robert Galinson (110,200) and Dennis Waterman (103,600). The top 171 players will be paid a minimum of $1,821.

Others who bagged and tagged on Day 1 were Charles "Woody" Moore (78,100), Perry Green (42,600), Dan Harrington (39,400), Vince Burgio (32,100), Barry Shulman (28,800), Artie Cobb (28,100), and Julius Colman (24,900).
