Another event at the WSOP, another gold bracelet up for grabs! It's Day 1 of Event #13: Big Blind Antes $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em.

This is a three-day event and a new event on the 2018 WSOP calendar. The tournament will implement a Big Blind Ante structure, which means that the ante will come from the big blind, and will speed up the game.

Day 1 starts at 11 a.m. local time. Players will begin with 7,500 in chips and will play 10 one-hour levels. There will be a 20-minute break every two levels and a 75-minute dinner break after Level 6. Late registration will close after the first eight levels, which is around 9:10 p.m. local time.

Shuffle Up and Deal

Players have now been instructed by the tournament director to shuffle up and start pitching the cards. Blinds will be starting at 25/50 and levels will be 60 minutes in length.

Nguyen Betting Early

The board read {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Nhathanh Nguyen bet 325 into a pot that was around 450. His opponent raised to 750 from early position and Nguyen thought for several moments before making a three-bet of 2,325. His opponent folded and Nguyen picked up an early pot during the first level of the day.

Greathause Doubles Up Early

Marc Greathause limped in late position. The player in the small blind raised to 225. Greathause called. The dealer spread a flop of {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades}. The small blind bet 200. Greathause raised to 700. His opponent called.

The turn came the {j-Hearts}. The small blind checked. Greathause bet 1,000, then the small blind check-raised to 2,500. Greathause responded by moving all in for a total of 6,500, and his opponent snap-called.

Greathause was behind but it was not over yet. The {7-Diamonds} river completed the board to give Greathause the better full house, enabling him to take down the pot and double up.

Mirliss Bets the River

The board read {j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Spades} and Adam Mirliss checked from the small blind to the hijack who then bet 300. Mirliss raised to 950 and the hijack called.

The {k-Clubs} fell on the turn, and both players checked to the {9-Spades} on the river. Mirliss fired out 2,500 and his opponent thought for a few moments before making the fold.

Farrell Chipping Up Early

The board read {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Niall Farrell bet 3,000 from the big blind into a pot around 2,700. His opponent called from the button and Farrell then tabled {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the straight. His opponent mucked and Farrell is now over double his initial starting stack.

Reard Takes Over the Betting

Alexandre Reard opened from early position and the button called the bet. The small blind three-bet to 875 and Reard made the call. The two were heads-up to the flop which came {5-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and the small blind opponent then led for 725.

Reard made the call and the turn came the {9-Diamonds}. Action was checked to Reard who then bet 1,225, his opponent folded and Reard scooped in the pot.
