Hellmuth Exits In a Ball of Flames

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Stud Hi-Lo

Aron Dermer: {x-}{x-} / {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} / {x-}
James Opie: {x-}{x-} / {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} / {x-}
Phil Hellmuth: {x-}{x-} / {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} / {x-}

Aron Dermer was all in on third street while Phil Hellmuth found himself all in on fourth street. James Opie was still in the hand and had both players covered. Dermer's whole cards were {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, Hellmuth had {3-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and Opie was sitting with {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

When fifth and sixth streets were dealt and Hellmuth saw that each of his opponents held a pair of fours, his straight outs, he was already enraged. With both players already holding two pair and all of the fours gone, Hellmuth was left drawing to a deuce on seventh. He peeled the {5-Spades} which did not improve his hand enough, as he was sent to the rail.

Dermer's two pair earned him the main pot while Opie was awarded the side pot.
