Hot Hulett Eliminates Linton

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

After already tangling in a large pot earlier, John Hulett and Peter Linton found themselves at it again all in on a flop of {2-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and 370,000 in the middle. Linton tabled {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for top two pair only to be crushed by Hulett's {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. The turn {9-Spades} and river {2-Clubs} sent Linton to the rail and Hulett is the clear new chipleader with nearly 900,000.

Shah Staying Afloat

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

When we got to the table, Sean Shah was already all in with 42,000 in the main pot, while Peter Levine and Matthew Shepsky were heads-up in a 40,000-chip side pot. Levine was in the small blind, Shepsky had shoved for 73,000 from the big blind, and Levine was in the tank. He ultimately folded and the two remaining live players tabled their hands.

Sean Shah: {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Matthew Shepsky: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Spades}

Shah had the lead with the better two pair and Shepsky needed to improve to win the pot. The {J-Clubs} river gave both players jacks full, but Shah's boat was better, so he took the main pot and Shepsky took the side.

Hulett Reaches 500,000

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Arriving to the table to see an already-large pot of about 150,000 and a flop of {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, John Hulett was all in for his remaining 100,000 against one of the larger stacks coming into Day 2 in Peter Linton. Hulett showed {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Clubs} for top set, the board ran out {5-Diamonds} {5-}, and Hulett scooped the half-million chip pot.

Boyd Doubles Through Sawa

Dutch Boyd
Dutch Boyd

On a monotone flop of {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and 90,000 already in the pot, Dutch Boyd faced an all-in from Rudolf Sawa for his remaining 22,000 stack. Boyd went into the tank for a minute before calling off and putting himself at risk.

Sawa tabled {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for top set against Boyd's {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. The turn was a brick in a {4-Spades} with Boyd needing help from the river to stay alive. He found it in the {A-Diamonds} for a superior set of aces and Sawa was crippled to just 15,000.

Shepsky Stacks Another

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Matthew Shepsky opened to 16,000 from early position, Le Vo then called from the hijack and was all-in for his remaining 15,000. Shepsky tabled {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades} dominating Vo's {A-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} . The flop showed {2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} with no help to either player. The turn a {9-Diamonds} and river {2-Diamonds} brought no help to Vo with ace-king holding and Vo's stack was added to Shepsky's.

Mehmood Eliminates Martin

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Aurellien Martin got his 56,000-chip stack in the middle before the flop from the big blind against two players with covering stacks: Henry Hull, who was under the gun, and Omar Mehmood, who was on the button.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{9-Spades} and Hull checked. Mehmood announced "all-in," Hull folded, and the two live players tabled their hands.

Aurellien Martin: {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Omar Mehmood: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

Mehmood had the lead with aces and the nut flush draw and Martin needed to improve in order to double up. The {A-Hearts} on the turn gave Mehmood a huge lead, and the {7-Hearts} river was no help to Martin, so Mehmood took the pot to send him to the cage.
