Ryan Bambrick Holds Commanding Lead as 13 Remain in $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha
A total of 799 players showed up for Event #30: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha and after two days of jam-packed action, just 13 players remain in contention for WSOP glory. Leading the way is Ryan Bambrick with 1,727,000, who has nearly double the amount of Phil Riley, who sits in second with 864,000.
Bambrick vaulted to the top in one of the last hands of the night when both Bambrick and Farid Jattin were holding trip jacks when all of the chips went in the middle. Jattin was in the lead with his ace kicker but his WSOP bracelet dreams came crashing down as the nine on the river improved Bambrick to jacks full of nines. Bambrick eliminated his adversary and scooped up the 1,000,000 chip pot to make him the overwhelming end-of-day chipleader.
Scott Clements was near the top of the chip counts for much of the night but was eliminated in the last hand of play by Sampo Ryynanen. Other players to hit the rail on Day 2 include Ryan Riess, Dutch Boyd, Darryll Fish, Thomas Taylor, Scott Davies and Rob Salaburu.
A former champion in Jiaqi "George" Xu is still in the hunt and will return on Day 3 with 180,000. Xu is no stranger to crushing this event as he won his first WSOP bracelet in the 2016 WSOP $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha (Event #37) earning $212,128 in the process.
Victor Ramdin proved that he could multi task, running back and forth from the Pot-Limit Omaha to the Seniors No-Limit Hold'em handling two chip stacks simultaneously. Ramdin will have to focus on just one event tomorrow as he returns to Day 3 with the second shortest stack in search of his first WSOP bracelet, as he busted out of the Seniors event.
The final 13 players will return to the Amazon room in the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on Saturday, June 16, at 12 P.M. local time and play down to a winner who will take home $217,123 and the coveted WSOP bracelet. PokerNews will be on the floor to cover this event wire to wire as we crown a new PLO champion.
