Welcome to Day 2 of Event #34: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em
Today the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino will welcome back 1,285 players for Day 2 of the inaugural Event #34: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em. This brand new event was popular from the get-go with 5,700 entrants coming together across Day 1a and Day 1b to create a $644,224 first-place prize.
In regards to what is different about this event, the name says it all, with players having received a 10,000-chip starting stack at blinds 25/50 — twice the normal starting stack across regular WSOP events. There was also the added option for players to re-enter for an unlimited amount of times up to Level 8 in each flight.
Brian Yoon (233,600) and Mike Tayakama (177,400) will start play as their respective Day 1 flight chip leaders with Eimantas Adomavicius (168,500), Vinny Pahuja (167,100), Phuoc Nguyen (165,000), Fabrizzo Dagostino (164,200), Mike Del Vecchio (161,700), Anthony Spinella (145,000), Kathy Liebert (135,000), Terry Schumacher (125,300), and Sergio Castelluccio (106,100) all in the chasing pack
Other familiar faces who will be in the field today include Loni Harwood (23,000), Chris Moorman (67,200), Niall Farrell (58,000), Bertrand Grospellier (20,700), Chris Ferguson (12,200), Giuseppe Pantaleo (131,600), Anatoly Filatov (9,500), Harry Lodge (6,500), Manig Loeser (28,700), Ari Engel (38,800), Calvin Anderson (46,300) and former Main Event Champion Ryan Riess (19,000).
Ten 60-minute levels will be played when the action gets underway at noon local time, with the blinds starting at 500/1,000/100 ante, with the average stack size at 44,531. There will be 15-min breaks every two levels and a 60-min break after the sixth level (approx. 5:30 p.m.).
