Three Tables Return for Day 3 of Event #66: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em but Who Will be Crowned Champion?

Timur Margolin
Timur Margolin

After 10 hours of action-packed play yesterday, 27 players survived and will return to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino to continue their campaign at 2p.m today.

A minimum of $9,657 is guaranteed to all those returning. The plan will surely be to lift the trophy at the end of the night, to be crowned the champion for 2018 and win a gold bracelet, as well as $323,472 in winnings.

All eyes will be on Timur Margolin, who comes back with over half a million in chips. If he can be the last man standing, he will have won his second bracelet this series. It is unlikely to be easy though as standing in his way are Longsheng Tan who bagged 993,000, which is not far off ten percent of the total chips in play. Heng Zhang will also be another worthy contender with 938,000 in front.

The schedule for today is to play down to a winner. Levels will last for 60 minutes and there will be a 15-minute break every two levels. There will also be a 60-minute dinner break after Level 6 (8:30p.m.). All the action will take place in the Miranda room.

Xiaoqiong Liu moved all in once and took down the blinds and antes. Her second shove for around 150,000 from under the gun was called by John Pannucci in the cutoff and the other players folded.

Xiaoqiong Liu: {j-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
John Pannucci: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The flop {8-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} gave Pannucci a set, but Liu held a flush draw and a gutshot straight draw. the {4-Diamonds}{2-Spades} failed to improve her, however, and she was eliminated.

Vladimir Fomine was also another early elimination today.

Daniel Weinman

Daniel Weinman raised to 22,000 and Georgios Tavoularis called. Weinman continued for 18,000 on the {8-Spades}{k-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop and Tavoularis raised to 63,000. Weinman moved all in and Tavoularis called.

Daniel Weinman: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}
Georgios Tavoularis: {j-Spades}{k-Spades}

The {3-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} runout missed Weinman's hand and he was left with just 5,000. That went in on the next hand and Tavoularis raised it up to 26,000. Trey Brabham called and the flop came {9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Brabham forced Tavoularis out of the hand with a bet and the cards were turned over.

Trey Brabham: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Daniel Weinman: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The board completed {j-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Weinman was eliminated.
