Aerts and Volpe Chop it Up

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Paul Volpe sat in the small blind and bet 90,000 on the {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{A-Spades} board. Matthijs Aerts called from one seat over to see the turn.

The turn came down and it was the {10-Spades}. Volpe checked to Aerts this time who put in a bet of 250,000. Volpe called.

The river was the {J-Diamonds} and completed the board. Volpe checked and then Aerts moved all in for a lot of chips. Volpe called and both had the king for the split pot.

Aerts was holding {K-Clubs}{J-Spades} and Volpe held {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}.

Greenwood Folds to Zamani's Flop Shove

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Mike Watson raised to 60,000 from under the gun and Sam Greenwood three-bet to 160,000 in the next seat. The action folded around to Martin Zamani in the small blind, and he thought for a couple of minutes before he four-bet to 365,000.

Watson folded but Greenwood made the call, and when the flop came down {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{j-Clubs}, Zamani moved all in. Greenwood was covered by Zamani and was visibly unsure on his next move.

"Do you have two queens?" asked Zamani.

"If I had two queens I would have called by now" Greenwood responded.

"I think you might have got me to fold here," said Greenwood, after another minute of thinking.

Greenwood then laid down his hand.

"I will show if you show," said Zamani, and the rest of the table egged Greenwood on to take the deal. The Canadian agreed and revealed {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of nines, and Zamani revealed {j-Spades}{10-Spades} for top pair.

Ivens Takes From Volpe

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Todd Ivens
Todd Ivens

Paul Volpe and Todd Ivens definitely belong to the more active players and this time it was Ivens that won one of the battles.

Ivens checked from middle position to Volpe who put in a bet of 85,000 on the {K-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop. Matthijs Aerts sat in the small blind and he folded his hand. Ivens called to see the turn.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and Ivens check-called a bet of 135,000 to see the {A-Clubs} appear on the board.

Both players checked this time and Ivens took it down by showing {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

Margereson Takes The Chip Lead

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Scott Margereson raised from the cutoff and Mike Watson and Sam Greenwood called in the blinds. Both the blinds checked on the {4-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop, and Margereson bet 100,000. Watson called, and Greenwood folded before the turn {2-Clubs} came down.

Watson check-called a 275,000 bet from Margereson and both players checked to a showdown on the {3-Hearts} river.

Margereson turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Watson held {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. Both players had a pair of kings, but Margereson took the pot with his ace kicker to move over 3m.

Sam Greenwood Eliminated in 11th Place ($41,721)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Sam Greenwood has exited the event in 11th place after losing the majority of his chips to Mike Watson.

Watson raised to 60,000 on the button and Greenwood three-bet from the small blind. Watson moved all in for around 600,000 and Greenwood called.

Mike Watson: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Same Greenwood: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Board: {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{q-Spades}

Watson was in great shape to double preflop, and the board was good to him. The former moved up over 1.4m, as Greenwood was left with just five big blinds.

Just a couple of hands later Greenwood moved all in for 140,000 from the cutoff, and Shaun Deeb raised to 240,000 on the button. Both players in the blinds folded and Greenwood needed help from the board to survive with {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Deeb held {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and after the five cards came down, he was still ahead and Greenwood exited in 11th place.

With ten players remaining, there are now two tables of five players after Romain Lewis was moved to the feature table to restore the balance.

Matthijs Aerts Eliminated in 10th Place ($54,831)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Matthijs Aerts
Matthijs Aerts

John Andress moved all in from the cutoff for about 700,000. Matthijs Aerts called from the small blind for his last 300,000 as he lost a lot of small pots to have less than ten big blinds left.

John Andress: {K-Spades}{10-Spades}
Matthijs Aerts: {J-Spades}{7-Spades}

The {Q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} flop was good for Aerts and the {6-Clubs} was a blank, but the river was the {K-Diamonds} and Aerts was eliminated from the tournament.
