Turner Busts to Erickson

Level 8 : 250/500, 75 ante

Jon Turner opened to 1,100 from middle position. John Erickson, on the cutoff, three-bet to 2,500. Action folded back to Turner who added the remainder to call.

A flop reading {2-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} was dealt. Turner checked. Erickson moved all in for around 20,000. Turner called, putting at risk his last 6,000.

John Erickson: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Jon Turner: {k-Spades}{10-Spades}

The {3-Spades} turn {a-Clubs} river filled up the board and Erickson took down the pot, sending Turner out.

Handrich Doubles Through Mermelstein

Level 8 : 250/500, 75 ante

There were about 8,000 chips in the pot and the board read {J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} when we got to the table. Jordan Handrich checked from middle position and Aaron Mermelstein bet 3,500 next to act. Handrich check-raised to 10,000 and Mermelstein shoved over the top for what looked like about 70,000, sending Handrich into the tank.

"Like 90 percent of the time this goes one way but it might go the other," said Handrich as she considered her decision. The server came by with her drink and she gestured to a full bottle of vodka sitting on the table in front of her. "I might need this entire thing in a few seconds."

Handrich eventually called to put herself at risk for about 33,000 total and the two players tabled their hands.

Jordan Handrich: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Aaron Mermelstein: {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

Handrich was ahead with her sixes but Mermelstein had lots of room to improve. The {6-Hearts} fell on the turn to give Mermelstein the lead with a flush, but Handrich picked up a set and could still win the pot if the board paired on the river. That's exactly what happened when the {4-Clubs} showed up as the final card and Handrich took the pot to double up.
