Pot Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

There was 1,700 in the pot pre-draw in a heads-up pot between Quinn Do in the small blind and James Obst on the button. Do drew two and Obst three. Do check-called a bet of 1,300 by Obst and second draws went two and one. After the second draw, Do checked and Obst looked down to his chip stack before announcing a pot-sized bet of 4,300. Do surveyed the situation and pushed forward more than enough chips in the pot to put Obst all-in for his last 3,100. The final draw went one and pat, and Obst turned over his hand. Do followed suit with the four cards he held from the final draw.

James Obst: {9-}{8-}{5-}{3-}{2-}
Quinn Do: {7-}{6-}{5-}{2-}

Do was in need of a three, four, eight, or nine and Obst asked him to show him the card quickly. He raised the card up to Obst before turning it over to see it himself. Much to his joy, it was an {8-} and Obst was sent home for the evening as Do collected the pot.

Heimiller Doubles Through Leng

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

With 1600 in the pot and a board reading {j-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, action was on Dan Heimiller in the big blind. He had put out a bet of 1,300 and had been check-raised to 6,000 by Ryan Leng from the small blind.

The two players to his immediate left were engaged in a discussion that was becoming slightly animated and Heimiller asked them to please take it down one notch as he had to crunch some numbers and think about whether he was going to call or go all in.

He eventually decided to shove for a total of 10,400 and Leng quickly called.

Dan Heimiller: {a-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Ryan Leng: {10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The turn and river ran out {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Heimiller's two pair held to secure the double.

No Limit Hold'em Fun at Table 477

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

No Limit Hold'em

A few consecutive pots went to showdown at Table 477 while an interesting discussion occurred. Adam Friedman raised preflop to 400 from the cutoff while four-handed, with the player in the big blind defending. The two players checked through the {5-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Spades} board and Friedman took down the pot with {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, good for a jack-high flush.

Two hands later, Friedman defended his small blind to a button min-raise preflop and the two went heads up to the flop. Friedman check-called a continuation-bet of 300 on a {3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board as well as a second barrel of 1,600 on the {q-Spades} turn. The river was the {a-Hearts} and both players checked.

"Eight high," Friedman exclaimed much to the delight of his opponent who turned over {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and took down the pot with nothing more than a ten.

Meanwhile, Julien Martini had sat down during this set of hands after having just registered the tournament. Some discussion occurred asking where he was from and when it came out that he was French, a tablemate asked him if he could do an American accent. With a smile on his face, he drawled out, "I want to eat potatoes," and everybody rejoiced in some laughter.

This led to the discussion of his word choice for potatoes rather than French fries, and ultimately to the fact that French fries are Belgian. However, Martini took it upon himself at this point to educate his audience further. It turns out that the reason they are called French fries has nothing to do with their origin, but rather the style of cut made on the potato. Interesting, but most players prefer chips.

O'Dell Wins a Couple

Frankie O'Dell
Frankie O'Dell

No Limit 5-Card Draw

Frankie O'Dell raised to 700 from the cutoff and was called by the player on the button. O'Dell drew two cards and his opponent drew three. Both players checked post-draw.

O'Dell tabled {a-}{a-}{q-}{8-}{2-} and his pair of aces was good as his opponent mucked his hand.

On the very next hand, a player raised from under the gun to 600 and O'Dell called from the hijack. The players in the cutoff and big blind called as well and the four players drew one, one, three, three. After the draw, the big blind checked and the player under the gun bet 1,500.

O'Dell was the only caller and tabled {a-}{a-}{j-}{j-}{6-} to win the pot with aces up.
