Avivi Puts Leonard to the Test

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

The board showed {a-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, and Patrick Leonard put in a 7,900 bet from under the gun in a heads-up pot. Tal Avivi countered with an all-in raise for his last 14,900, sending Leonard into the tank.

Leonard agonized for several minutes before finally folding. "Good fold," Avivi said. "I had five-six."

Both players are currently sitting north of the 40,000-chip mark.

Judah Says He Had It

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante

Limit Omaha High

The flop was {5-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts} and James Hoeppner bet from the small blind. Patrick Leonard called on his left and Mel Judah raised on the button. Hoeppner called and Leonard folded. The turn brought a {10-Spades} and Hoeppner checked. Judah quickly bet and Hoeppner tanked awhile then tossed in {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for a flopped straight.

"I've got it," Judah said, flashing a card that was likely the {a-Spades}.

"You've got a suckout is what you've got," Hoeppner grumbled.

Judah protested that he already had a straight before he made his flush.

Bong Draws to the Winner

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante

A-5 Triple Draw

Paul Bong, Matthew Schultz and David McCaw went three ways to the second draw, with McCaw betting from under the gun and getting a call from Bong in the small blind and Schultz in the big blind. Bong drew one, Schultz drew two, and McCaw stood pat.

The action checked to McCaw, who bet, Bong called and Schultz folded. Bong drew one, and McCaw once again stood pat.

Bong checked again and McCaw bet again, and got snap called. Bong managed to draw to the winning {a-}{2-}{4-}{6-}{8-}, dragging the pot from a visibly frustrated McCaw, who showed {2-}{4-}{5-}{6-}{7-}.

"East Coast" Finds a Dub

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Mike Ross, pictured in an earlier event.
Mike Ross, pictured in an earlier event.

Badeucey

"East Coast" Mike Ross three-bet out of the small blind and took two, with his cutoff opponent who raised initially also taking two. They got in a raising war until Ross was all in for about 4,000 more after that, and Ross was pat against a one-card draw. Ross patted again and his opponent drew.

Ross showed {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} for an eight-low with six-badugi. His opponent showed {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for a weaker dugi but a draw to a better two-way hand.

"I threw away two threes," Ross declared as the last card was flipped, and it was indeed a worthless {5-Spades}.
