Michael Blake

The crowning of a winner in Event #39: $1,000 Super Seniors will have to wait to tomorrow as the tournament heads into an unscheduled fourth day of play. After a further ten levels were played, ten players still remain with a chance of winning the bracelet and $359,863 in prize money.

Leading the way is Michael Blake who eliminated five players of the last 17 players to bag 12,300,000 and is the only player with an eight-figure stack.

Behind him comes Kanajett Hathaitham (9,235,000) and Rick Austin (6,475,000) with Jeffrey Miller (5,525,000) and Cary Marshall (5,500,000) the only other players above average.

Still in contention is two-time bracelet winner Barry Shulman (2,665,000) although he sits as one of the short stacks and will be hoping for some run good when play resumes on Day 4 at 11 a.m.

Day 3 Recap

A field of 120 players started the day, and they were almost cut in half by the first break as a steady stream of players were eliminated. These included bracelet-winners "Captain" Tom Franklin (108th - $2,469), Steve Hohn (102 - $2,469), and Humberto Brenes (97th - $2,816), the latter of which got his final chips in with ace-queen only to be up against the ace-king of an opponent.

Michael Moore (76th - $3,781) and Larry Wright (64th - $4,449) soon followed. Marcia Godinez was cashing in her third Super Seniors in a row, and she was eliminated in 39th place for $7,697, shortly followed by Don Zewin in 38th for the same amount.

Allyn Shulman was sitting pretty with an around average stack, but a confrontation with Cary Marshall saw her aces cracked by kings after Marshall flopped a king.

Start-of-day chip leader Jay Hong was a late elimination on Day 2, running pocket tens into the aces of Bruce Treitman to bust in 16th for $14,544.

Blake leads the final ten into Day 4 action. They will play down to a winner on 20th June at 11 a.m. Stay tuned to PokerNews for continued coverage from the 50th annual World Series of Poker
