Denis Bagdasarov Ends the Day with a Bang and Leads for Day 3

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante
Denis Bagdasarov
Denis Bagdasarov

Out of the 200 players who returned for Day 2 action in Event #40: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha, just 21 remain ten levels later. Leading the way is Denis Bagdasarov, who managed to claim the chiplead on the very last hand of the day, busting Rocco Scalmato and Peyman Ahmadi in a three-way all in preflop to reach a stack of 3,035,000.

Closely behind him stands Glen Cressman with 2,910,000, Johannes Toebbe (2,905,000) and the two-time bracelet winner Benjamin Zamani with 2,900,000.

With several experienced players still in contention, the path to victory won't be an easy one for anybody. Many bracelet winners are still in the run such as Steve Sung (1,450,000), Norbert Szecsi (665,000), owner of two gold bracelets including one in a Mixed PLO/NLHE event at the WSOPE in 2018, and Ayaz Mahmood (1,075,000) are also still in the hunt for the $298,507 top prize and coveted gold bracelet.

Not all of the familiar faces who returned for Day 2 action were lucky enough to survive to the end. It was Barny Boatman who fell at the unfortunate place of bubble boy, being eliminated by Mike Matusow. On a raised pot, the flop read {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} when Matusow pushed all in and Boatman snap-called.

Matusow, holding {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, had Boatman's {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} crushed and the {a-Spades} turn and {5-Spades} river fell to bust Boatman right before the money.

Erik Seidel, amongst the biggest stack at the beginning of the day, busted at the 82th pace for $2,991. He was followed by Mark Radoja, also among the fan favorites on Day 2 who ended 47th for $5,083 and Mike Matusow in 45th place for $6,020. Rami Boukai (44th -$6,020), Steven Wolansky (50th - $5,083), Scott Bohlman (85th -$2,991) and Loren Klein (100th - $2,512) all left with parting gifts, as well.

Day 3 action will begin Wednesday, June 19 at noon local time. The plan is to play down to a winner. Keep it here for continuing coverage of the event and throughout the 2019 World Series of Poker from the PokerNews Live Reporting team.

Little Busts Sitbon With Straight Flush

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

The board was {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} when James Little from the big blind and Julien Sitbon from the button both had 90,000 in front of them with 120,000 in the middle of the pot. Richard Tuhrim sat on the button and was still to act and he got out of the way.

The river was the {5-Hearts} and Little announced pot. The bet was 300,000 and Sitbon had 350,000 in total. He announced all in and he was snapped off by Little.

Sitbon showed {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the nut flush, but Little had {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for the absolute nuts. Sitbon stood up from his chair in disbelief as he was eliminated from the tournament.

Steve Sung
Steve Sung

Norbert Szecsi raised on the button and Steve Sung three-bet from the small blind, quickly called by Szecsi.

The flop appeared {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Sung moved all in for a stack worth 360,000. Szecsi called to create the following showdown:

Steve Sung: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Norbert Szecsi: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

Sung had the best hand with the kings, and earned the double up after a {3-Spades} and a {2-Clubs} completed the board.

Big Double-Up for Ludlow

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante
Ben Ludlow
Ben Ludlow

Benjamin Ludlow scored a big double up in a four-way limped pot. The flop was {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and it checked to Ludlow in late position. He bet 60,000 and it was Adam Monaghan who raised to 210,000. The others got out of the way and Ludlow three-bet all in for 437,000. Monaghan snap-called.

Benjamin Ludlow: {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Adam Monaghan: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Monaghan took over the lead in the hand when the {5-Hearts} on the turn gave him the nut-flush but Ludlow binked the river when the {j-Diamonds} was dealt.

Sitbon Eliminates Nguyen

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

The {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Spades} flop was already on the board and there was 105,000 in the pot. Big blind Nikolai Sears checked his option and Tam Nguyen bet 105,000 with only about 50,000 behind. Julien Sitbon raised from middle position to well over 250,000 and the action was on James Pritchard on the button. He thought about it for a while but he let go of his hand. Sears folded as well and Nguyen called for his tournament life.

Tam Nguyen: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Julien Sitbon: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out with the {3-Diamonds} turn and {10-Diamonds} river and Sitbon won a nice pot to push him over the one-million chip mark while Nguyen was eliminated from the tournament.

Boatman Bubbles

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Barny Boatman in a previous event
Barny Boatman in a previous event

Barny Boatman limped under the gun when they were on the money bubble and action folded to small blind Mike Matusow. Matusow raised to 24,000 and Boatman was up when Kenny Hallaert folded. Boatman ended up calling after he thought about it for a while.

The {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop was dealt and Matusow pushed all in. Boatman almost beat him into the pot. They had to wait until all other hands had completed before they continued.

Matusow then opened up {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and he had Boatman's {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} crushed.

The dealer dealt an {a-Spades} turn and the {5-Spades} river to end Boatman his tournament on the bubble. The other players are guaranteed to win at least $2,248.
