Morgenstern Has More Kings

Level 4 : 200/400, 0 ante

Six players invested 1,200 to see a {4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop together. Action checked to Anton Morgenstern on the button, who bet 5,000. Everyone folded to the cutoff, who check-raised the pot, then called off for 24,000 total when Morgenstern potted it back.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Anton Morgenstern: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}

Morgenstern's top set had his opponent's top pair in rough shape, and the {2-Spades} turn ended matters before the {2-Diamonds} river could fall on the river, filling up Morgenstern and eliminating his opponent.

Sanders Straightens Out Smith

Level 5 : 300/500, 0 ante

Vern Smith, who's at his first WSOP after being put into the field by some of the 50-100 Mix players at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota, checked a {7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop over to Joseph Sanders in the hijack. He bet 3,600, and Smith responded with a raise to 13,000. Sanders tanked for a bit, then called.

Smith potted it on the {6-Clubs} turn, and Sanders immediately moved in for 40,700. Smith called and said, "You wanna run it twice? I've got a set and the nut flush draw."

Joseph Sanders: {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Vern Smith: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

Sanders held the nut straight, and improved it on the {8-Diamonds} river, fading Smith's many outs to scoop the double. Smith went bust a few hands later.

Cheong Wins With Quads

Level 5 : 300/500, 0 ante

Joseph Cheong was involved in a pot where the board read {j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and he had bet about 20,000 which was the size of the pot. The player in middle position called him and the third player in the pot got out of the way.

Cheong showed {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the absolute nuts and he took the pot down. Cheong is chipping up nicely and has over two times the starting stack of 60,000.
