Shim Scoops Big Pot to Vault Above Average Stack

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Stud Hi-Lo

Albert Shim, who had been down to one bet about an hour ago, is now among the bigger stacks in the remaining field. Shim got back in contention following a few doubles and he recently scooped a big pot, tangling with John Bunch and John Holley.

Bunch completed, Shim called and so did Lee Markholt and Holley. Shim bet on fourth and only Markholt folded as Holley and Bunch called.

They checked on fifth and Bunch bet on sixth with nines out. Shim called and so did Holley.

The river saw Shim bet and Holley raise. Bunch tanked for over a minute and then folded. Shim three-bet and Holley sighed, saying that the pot was already too big to fold. He called and Shim showed a straight and an eight-low, scooping the whole pot.

Markholt: {x-}{x-} / {2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} - fold
Holley: {x-}{x-} / {10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} / {x-}
Bunch: {x-}{x-} / {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} / {x-} - fold
Shim: {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts} / {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

With action on fifth street, Tom Koral bet with a ten-low board and John Holley called, having spiked a king. Albert Shim paired a deuce and he called as well.

"I don't have a lot left so I check in the dark," Koral announced and Holley checked as well. Koray finished with an eight-low and dragged the pot as Holley mucked.
