Welcome to the Start of Event #40: $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha

WSOP GGpoker
WSOP GGpoker

The stage is set for one of the busiest Sundays in all of online poker and the PokerNews live reporting team is here to bring you all of the action. Many World Series of Poker bracelets will be handed out today, one of them being in Event #40: $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha. This single-day event will begin at 2 pm EST with the bracelet being handed out roughly 10-12 hours after that.

Being in the larger buy-in range, this event will attract many of the best players who enjoy the "Great game of PLO". More cards, more action, more money will certainly be the case today. There have been many great moments so far this summer since the WSOP moved its tournaments to GGPoker amidst this pandemic, and today should be no different.

Each player will begin the tournament with a starting stack of 25,000 chips with the blinds at 125/250. That should provide players with plenty of room to maneuver their chips around in this action-packed game. The blinds will increase every 15 minutes with a break every 55 minutes past the hour.

Late registration will remain open for three hours with each player having the option of two re-entries should they require it. The tournament will be played in a 6-max format until the final table of nine players is reached. The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the action from the start until a winner is crowned.

Kasper "GangstaPoker" Mellanen three-bet the pot to 35,000 and was called by "ginyo" as they then got it in after the {k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop on which Mellane check-shovd for 131,995 when facing a bet of 75,000.

"bapu" was not as fortunate. They got it in preflop with {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} from the button as "SkullIsland" quickly called with {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Hearts} in the cutoff, holding the slightly superior stack.

The next hand was dealt and several players were all-in. "ruminramen" had the fewest chips and busted while "BlueMoon", Jeff Kirsch and "kakamakadu" hit the rail for a min-cash.

"kakamakadu" got it in good with {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} against Mike Leah with the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Hearts} but the {k-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board favoured Leah.
