Thi Truong wins Event #74

Enrico "GTOExploiter" Camosci came one spot away from being the second player to collect two bracelets in the GGPoker portion of the 2020 World Series of Poker online. However, it wasn't to be, as Thi "HoneyandTHI" Truong staved off any hope of a heads-up comeback to resign Camosci to second place.

Truong collected her first bracelet and $215,938 plus a ticket to the WSOP Europe. She topped a field of 972 and a final table that included the likes of Sean Winter, Kyle "johnmarbles" Bowker, Joao "naturalMENTE" Simao and Laurynas Levinskas.

Truong made a huge call for her stack on the final table bubble that proved to be the turning point in his tournament. Big stack Antti "Botripper" Nieminen attempted to bluff him by setting him in for about two-thirds pot on a board with a potential low straight and a pair. Truong found the call button with aces and was shown an empty bluff with just a straight blocker.

That pot powered Truong to the chip lead heading to the nine-handed final table and she didn't waste the opportunity.

After a couple of early eliminations including American high roller Sean Winter, Truong got lucky against fellow big stack Frank Crivello, who had already collected one bracelet in PLO on GGPoker. Crivello squeezed for almost half of his chips with kings after three players entered the pot, and Truong decided to make him earn it after everyone else folded. When Truong's double-paired hand turned into a set, Crivello went bust and Truong had almost half of the chips six-handed.

The cards were with Truong when it got short-handed. After she busted the dangerous Simao with a live single-suited hand, Truong's jacks topped Dante Goya's queens to get her heads up against Camosci.

Camosci had already secured a bracelet in the $2,100 Bounty Championship, but the nut wrap failed to come home against aces when he had a chance to get back in it.

With a few weekend tournaments ahead and the $25K final table to be played, it will be a busy weekend on GGPoker and at PokerNews covering all the goings-on. Be sure to monitor all of the action here throughout the weekend.

Thi Truong bet 120,000 on the {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop and Enrico Camosci made it 360,000. Truong called, bringing an {8-Clubs} that prompted him to pot it. Camosci tanked a long time then shoved for a bit more.

Camosci: {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Truong: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}

Camosci had the nut wrap and turned a few more outs on the {8-Clubs}, with Truong picking up two pair. The river was a {2-Clubs}, missing Camosci and giving the bracelet to Truong.

Thi Truong made it 440K on the button and Dante Goya potted to over 1.5M. Thi Truong clicked raised to force Goya in.

Goya: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Truong: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades}{3-Spades}

Truong was behind but turned a straight and faded a boat on the {10-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} board.

Joao Simao

Thi Truong raised to 500,000 on the button and got three-bet to 1.7 million by small blind Joao Simao. Truong shoved for Simao's last 300K and Simao called with a prayer emoji.

Simao: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Truong: {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Truong had a very live hand, and the {2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} board gave him a winning pair of sevens.

Kyle Bowker

Joao Simao limped the cutoff, Kyle Bowker potted to 560,000 in the small blind and Simao shoved for Bowker's last 400,000.

Bowker: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{4-Spades}
Simao: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

The {j-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop looked promising for Bowker and he picked up another good card with the {10-Clubs} turn. It was almost a flip heading to the river, and the {7-Diamonds} that fell missed Bowker.

Joao Simao opened for 264,000 under the gun and got two callers before big blind Frank Crivello made it 1 million. Action folded to small blind Thi Truong, who called. Truong checked the {5-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop and Crivello potted. Truong shoved for about 300,000 more and Crivello called.

Crivello: {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Truong: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}

Truong had flopped a set. He had more cards to fade after the {j-Hearts} turn. Crivello hit his flush on the {8-Hearts} river but that also filled Truong to a boat.

Dante Goya opened for 324K in middle position and big blind Sean Winter potted to 1,032,000. Goya shoved for 738K more and Winter called with {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. He'd run into the blades as Goya had {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and while Winter found a pretty friendly flop of {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades}, the board just paired twice from there.

Johannes Toebbe Eliminated in 9th Place ($17,533)

Level 35 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

Action folded to the small blind, where Thi Truong potted. Johannes Toebbe called. Truong shoved the last 384K on the {7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{j-Spades} flop and Toebbe called.

Toebbe: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}
Truong: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Each player had a pair and improved to two pair on the {k-Hearts} but it was Truong's kings and jacks that led big. The {6-Diamonds} river was safe for him.
