Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima Adds First Bracelet After Shipping Event #9 for $91,205

Level 52 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 300,000 ante

It took just under nine hours to determine a winner in Event #9: $525 Superstack Turbo Bounty and when the last artist of the night put down the mic, it was Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima sitting in the winner's circle, topping the 2,229 player field. He earned his first World Series of Poker bracelet, along with $91,025 in prize money.

Lima began the final table third on the leaderboard and looked to have less experience at this level than the rest of the field. But the Brazilian kept focus and made impeccable decisions en route to his first WSOP bracelet. It was no easy feat, having to best some great players and one especially talented was Anson Tsang who was hunting for his third bracelet.

Tsang had the lead to begin the final table and started heads-up as a big favorite. Lima quickly doubled and wore Tsang down afterward. The final hand saw Lima jam pocket threes on the button and Tsang call for almost an even stack with ace-five. A window ace looked good but a three fell behind, giving Lima a set. The turned sealed it for Lima and Tsang had to settle for runner-up.

Action of the Day

The late registration ended at the beginning at level 19 and a total of 2,229 entry slips were sold, accumulating a $1,114,500 prize pool which had 316 players set to make the money, getting at least $669 for a min-cash. Once the bubble popped the usual onslaught of short stacks came forth and in no time just nine were left, all guaranteed at least $5,139 with the eventual champ taking home $45,796 plus all bounties collected and their own.

Once the final table had been reached it was Tsang sitting on top of the leaderboard, in search of his third WSOP bracelet. Krzysztof "ZryjGruz" Dulowski picked up quickly tho, sending the first casualty to the rail when he cracked the kings of William "BigCharles" Romaine with three jacks. Shortly after it was Daisuke "REDJOE" Ogita taking an exit when he ran his ace-ten into the big slick of Lima, sending a hefty bounty over to the eventual champ.

Yngve "IAMWILLIAM" Steen ran his short stack as long as he could, but ultimately he found sevens and jammed, only to run into the aces of Stanislav Kuvaev, and he took an exit in seventh place. Fan-favorite Joaquin Melogno took an exit next when he called of his stack on a queen-high board with a pair of jacks. Lima held a queen and took down another bounty,

Dulowski took down the next two bounties, busting Kuvaev and Johnathon "Resolve" French which left just three. The big shift happened when Lima called his stack with a pair of sixes and was against the ace-queen of Dulowski. Sixes held and Dulowski shoved his short stack in with king-queen, Tsang called with ace-four. Neither hit a thing and Tsang pulled with his ace-high to drop Dulowski from contention.

Heads-up was heavily in favor of Tsang but Lima quickly found a double with king-jack against ace-rag. It took just a round more and Lima was in the lead. Tsang never retook the lead and ultimately was eliminated in second, when his ace-five failed to best the pocket treys of Lima who flopped a set. Tsang pulled in a combined $66,918 for his runner-up finish, falling just short of a third bracelet.

That wraps it up for the PokerNews live coverage of this event but tune in throughout the series for updates on all of the exciting tournaments that are slated.

Anson Tsang Eliminated in 2nd Place ($45,684 + $21,234)

Level 52 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 300,000 ante

Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima shoved 55,468,880 and Anson Tsang called for slightly less in what was the last hand of the event.

Anson Tsang: {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima: {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}

The flop instantly fanned out, with an ace in the window to pair up Tsang but it was followed by a three when the {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop landed.

Lima took a commanding lead with his set of treys and the {7-Spades} sealed the deal for him. Tsang was then drawing dead to the {10-Diamonds} river, finishing as the runner-up for a respectable $66,918.

Congratulation sot Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima on his victory here in Event #9: $525 Superstack Turbo Bounty, pulling in a total of $91,205 for his victory and a new shiny WSOP bracelet.

Level 49 : 600,000/1,200,000, 150,000 ante

Anson Tsang opened to 2,400,000 from the button and Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima called in the small blind. Krzysztof "ZryjGruz" Dulowski shoved 11,794,214 from the big blind and only Ysang called, putting Dulowski at risk.

Krzysztof "ZryjGruz" Dulowski: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Anson Tsang: {a-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

A flop of {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} landed on the virtual felt, hitting neither. A juicy {j-Clubs} turn brought a lot of way to win the pot for Dulowski but Tsang faded everyone on the {8-Hearts} river card, sending Dulowski to the rail.

Johnathon "Resolve" French Eliminated in 4th Place ($24,492 + $4,828)

Level 48 : 500,000/1,000,000, 125,000 ante

Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima opened to 1,600,000 and Krzysztof "ZryjGruz" Dulowski three-bet, making it 6,560,000. Johnathon "Resolve" French shoved over the top, totaling 9,820,175 and only Dulowski called.

Johnathon "Resolve" French: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Krzysztof "ZryjGruz" Dulowski: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

French was in a prime spot to double and the {10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop was of no help to his opponent. A {j-Hearts} turn did flip the switch, giving Dulowski the lead with his paired jack.

The {3-Clubs} river completed the board, cementing the pot for Dulowski who collected another bounty here at the final table. French took an exit in fourth place, pulling in a total of $29,321 for his efforts.

Stanislav Kuvaev Eliminated in 5th Place ($17,923 + $5,818)

Level 47 : 400,000/800,000, 100,000 ante

Stanislav Kuvaev shoved 11,475,993 from under the gun and Krzysztof "ZryjGruz" Dulowski instantly isolation-shoved over the top and the rest of the table folded.

Stanislav Kuvaev: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Krzysztof "ZryjGruz" Dulowski: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} flop spread out on the table, leaving cowboys sitting pretty. A {q-Spades} turn brought some more outs for Kuvaev but he failed to improve on the {10-Spades} river. Kuvaev was eliminated and Dulowski pulled in a bounty.

Joaquin Melogno Eliminated in 6th Place ($13,115 + $5,199)

Level 46 : 350,000/700,000, 85,000 ante

Joaquin Melogno opened to 1,470,000 from under the gun, Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima defended his big blind and the flop came down {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Both players tapped to the {6-Spades} turn when Lima led out for 4,060,000.

Melogno called and the {6-Clubs} river completed the board. Lima pushed for more than enough to cover Melogno who was not put to the test. In the end, Melogno called his 11,892,512 stack into the middle, tabling {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} for jacks over sixes.

It was not enough though as Lima showed {q-Spades}{10-Hearts} for a flopped lady to scoop the pot, leaving Melogno out in the cold, taking a walk to the payout desk.

Yngve "IAMWILLIAM" Steen Eliminated in 7th Place ($9,597 + $8,793)

Level 45 : 300,000/600,000, 75,000 ante

Yngve "IAMWILLIAM" Steen shoved his 7,593,157 stack into the middle and Stanislav Kuvaev jammed over the top, totaling 8,965,336. Everyone else ducked out and Steen was at risk as they tabled their hands.

Yngve "IAMWILLIAM" Steen: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Stanislav Kuvaev: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Steen was in trouble as Kuvaev had the rockets. A {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop landed on the virtual felt, not helping Steen.

The {q-Hearts} turn left him with once last chance for romance, but no love was to be found on a {6-Clubs} river card and he was sent out the door, shipping his chips to the Russian.

Level 43 : 200,000/400,000, 50,000 ante

Daisuke "REDJOE" Ogita open-ripped 9,124,815 from under the gun and Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima pushed over the top. The rest of the table folded, leaving a showdown between two.

Daisuke "REDJOE" Ogita: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Lucio "WizardOfAz" Lima: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Ogita was dominated and the {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Spades} flop changed little, giving each a straight draw. An {a-Spades} turn left Ogita in need of a cowboy but the {4-Spades} river was of no use and he was eliminated in eighth place, sending his chips to Lima.
