Ye "yuan365" Yuan Looking For Another Big Summer of Online Fun

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante
Ye "Tony" Yuan
Ye "Tony" Yuan

Ye "yuan365" Yuan, also known as Tony Yuan, has a tiny amount of cashes on his Hendon Mob profile, with just $6,774 in career tournament earnings outside of one particularly big outlier. Yuan, a Ph.D Candidate of Mathematics and Probability at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, overcame the odds and made the final table of the 2020 WSOP $10,000 Main Event, after pushing through a field of 705 entrants.

“I still can’t believe it." Yuan told PokerNews about his run to the final table. "I don’t know how I made it, but someone I did. I was quite lucky to have some big hands. I won a coinflip when short-stacked with pocket nines against my opponent’s ace-jack offsuit." Yuan also was confident in the transition to the live final table, as opposed to online, saying, "I’m a live guy. I think my live play is better than my online play. I can read people.”

Yuan finally succumbed in fifth-place, losing a flip with ace-ten to the pocket fours of Joseph Hebert, but the $286,963 payday certainly helped put a big dent in his college tuition. Now, with another summer of online events waiting, Yuan will be looking to make another deep run payoff in similar fashion.

Ian "apokerjoker2" Steinman Looking to Crush Another WSOP Online Bracelet Series

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante
Ian Steinman
Ian Steinman

One WSOP Gold Bracelet. Three final tables. Fifteen cashes. That was the body of work of Ian "apokerjoker2" Steinman in last year's WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series, one that would be the envy of nearly everyone who fired in last year's version. Steinman, who already has been seeking action on some bracelet bets for this year's series, will be looking to duplicate his many deep runs and massive success this year.

Steinman's heater began last year with two final tables early in the series, with a fifth-place performance in Event #7: $800 NLH Knockout Deepstack for $24,578, followed by a sixth-place finish two days later in Event #9: $1,000 NLH 6-Max for $30,995. Steinman's bracelet would be earned late in the series, when he took down Event #27: $400 NLH Freezeout for $110,557 after beating Japan's Satoshi Tanaka in heads-up play. Steinman used these performances to take down the $100,000 Leaderboard competition of the WSOP.com portion of the series, which sent an additional $18,000 his way.

Steinman doesn't appear to be resting on his laurels in preparing for a summer of poker, however, already getting in some prep work by winning the Benny Binion Summer Shoot-Out at the South Point Poker Room for $65,000 after a three-way deal. As much as winning his first bracelet meant to Steinman, the quest for another crusher of a summer is on for the hyper-talented Steinman.

Negreanu Gets Big Blind Special

Level 6 : 150/300, 30 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

"Nucman" raised to 877 from the cutoff, the small blind player called and Daniel "DNegs" Negreanu came along as well from the big blind.

The {10-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop was checked to Negreanu who fired out 1,150 and "Nucman" raised to 4,500. After the small blind folded, Negreanu three-bet shoved for 49,370 and "Nucman" called off their 13,613 stack.

"Nucman": {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Daniel "DNegs" Negreanu: {q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

Negreanu flopped two pair while "Nucman" held the open-ended straight draw which they completed once the {k-Spades} appeared on the turn.

Negreanu needed a queen or five to fall on the river and one did, as the {5-Diamonds} appeared to secure him the pot.

Ross "BlueTang" Gottlieb Looking For a Taste of WSOP Gold

Level 7 : 175/350, 35 ante
Ross Gottlieb
Ross Gottlieb

Columbus, Ohio's Ross "BlueTang" Gottlieb recorded four cashes in last year's WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series, but it was one huge run that defined his series, and brought him agonizingly close to earning his first career WSOP Gold Bracelet.

In Event #8: $500 NLH Freezeout, Gottlieb found himself at a final table of absolute crushers, including Robert "bustinballs" Kuhn, Scott "miamicane" Davies, and Randy "StayAlive" Ohel among others. Gottlieb was on the shorter side of the counts at the start of the final table, but took the majority of Kuhn's chips with queens to take a commanding lead with five players remaining.

When heads-up play commenced, Gottlieb was back in a 2:1 deficit against Alan "GladiusIII" Goehring, but looked poised to take back command of the battle when the final hand of the tournament took place. Gottlieb, holding king-nine, flopped a king-high straight, while Goehring held ace-three of clubs for a higher straight draw and a flush draw. Gottlieb went from retaking the chip lead to out in one card when the turn was a club, and Gottlieb was forced to settle for $73,942 for a second-place run.

Gottlieb, who describes himself on his Twitter bio as a "full time veterinarian, part time button clicker", is back in action for this year's series, and looks to have a full schedule of events to play in his quest to finish one spot higher in an event this year, and lay claim to a WSOP Gold Bracelet.

Daniel "spicoli24" Sepiol Poised For a Breakout

Level 11 : 400/800, 80 ante
Daniel Sepiol
Daniel Sepiol

Daniel "spicoli24" Sepiol has been a fixture on the Midwest poker circuits for a few years, spending much time on the felt on the Mid States Poker Tour, Heartland Poker Tour, and World Series of Poker Circuit, to name a few places the Indiana native has frequented. 2021 has served as a leaping pad for Sepiol to take a big step towards the next level, and his results leading up to the WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series speak for themselves.

Sepiol's first taste of success came in March during the 2021 MSPT Iowa Riverside $1,100 Main Event. Sepiol took down his first MSPT title, along with a career-high score of $162,781 for beating a field of 862 entrants. June was another lucrative month for Sepiol, as he earned $105,450 in a heads-up chop with Michael Newman in the Venetian Deep Stack Championship Series Event #45: $1,100 Ultimate Stack. He capped off his stellar month with a 45th-place finish in the Wynn Millions $10,000 NLH for $51,650.

Sepiol now sets his sights on the WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series, looking to continue his plethora of success in 2021. Will he continue the breakout year in his transition to the virtual felt? In today's MonsterStack event, he sits just above starting stack, and we'll be keeping our eyes on his performances all summer long.

Andrew "WATCHGUY42" Lichtenberger min-raised under the gun and then called the 15,180 three-bet all in Zachary "ThePepster5" Epstein made from the hijack.

Zachary "ThePepster5" Epstein: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Andrew "WATCHGUY42" Lichtenberger: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Epstein was way ahead until the {k-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{q-Hearts} flop appeared giving Lichtenberger the nut flush. The meaningless {k-Diamonds} turn followed the {7-Spades} river completed the board and Epstein re-entered the Monster Stack.

Action folded to Mark "Nostradonkus" Liedtke who raised all in on the button and Angel "chromeking" Lopez called off his 75,104 stack from the big blind.

Mark "Nostradonkus" Liedtke: {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Lopez was ahead with his pocket eights until the {6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop appeared pairing Liedtke's ten. The {a-Clubs} turn was no help to Lopez nor was the {k-Hearts} river and his tournament ended just shy of the money bubble.
